Turn 4 What goes up.....

[OOC catching up sorry for the delay. Been a little busy since i got back from my few days away. Off to brussels tonight so i might not get a lot of chance to reply before saturday]

[OOC 2 - Dart name the character yourself. Im assuming an Elvern Ranger using Missile combat style]

[OOC 3 - ill try and answer any further PMs that are outstanding. Dont think you need to choose spell school raving thats pretty much for a wizard. I thought it would be better for you to be a sorceror which gives you a limited spell range but more options for casting]

[Group 1=]

Spotting the approaching guards Bamoin pats the womans arm and then dissapears into the growing crowd while keeping his eye on the others in the group. His hand strays to the 3 pouches he 'aquired'. Absently he empties each into his hands and pours over the mixed coins he finds (not much 4 gps. 30sp. 60cp)

The guards push through the crowds and split as they approach the group. 2 head towards the half orc while the others come towards Siggi and the others crowded around the wounded and burnt guardswoman.

"What is going on here?" the lead guardsman demands

Before you can answer the woman raises her hand weakly, "seargant these good folk assisted the town of Ptolus. They came to my aid and help quell the fires burning the half orc. "

The sargeant looked at the group and sneered a little, "Very well captain, I will not press further. We shall assist you to the infirmary and take the prisoner in for interrogation when he awakens."

As the militia help the woman rise she turns to Siggi. "Thank you my good lady. If you should find yourself in the Griffin tonight I believe drinks will be awaiting."

With that you watch as the guards drag the half orc away and carry the captain with care back through the crowds.

It is at that point you realise that Knok and Arak are missing.

Belwar smiles at you and whispers something to his ever present wolf. It yaps and then sniffs. With a little growl of pleasure it bounds down the road towards in the direction of Knok.

You quickly follow behind Belwar heading along the main street and after about 100 yards see a strange sight. Knok is gesturing at a floating woman whilst Arak is waving a rope in her direction. She seems to be floating upwards slowly and even from 100ft away you can hear her shrieking about demons and death.

The womans grip begins to loosen on the cart. Hunting around for a rope Arak spies one on a cart nearby. He grabs it and then rushes towards the woman who is slowly loosing her grip from the carts handle.

[Knok is not high enough caster level to cast dispel magic. However Arak is. Ill spend some time this week putting a sheet together that explains what everyone can ./ cannot do]

Knok realising his magic skills are limited in this situation rushes to the cart to hold the woman in place whilst arak ties the rope around her arm. Suddenly she looses her grip and floats upwards again some 5 ft. Knok stretches and keep hold, the look of fear in the womans eyes motivating him to try harder.

[Spot checks for Arak / Knok .... ]

Arak is momentarily distracted by a strange robed figure strolling around a corner in the street ahead, maybe some 75 yards away and moving towards the main river crossing road. .. he feels a tug and is pulled back to reality.

'Grab this' he shouts to Knok handing over the rope. Then quickly he steps back and begins to cast a spell [Dispel Magic] knok suddenly realises something.

"Wait, if you dispel the magic she migh fall and hurt herself. We should just pull her down. Hold her, sit on her or something, maybe the effect [Spellcraft check - success] which seems like some kind of levitation will wear off?

Behind you hear the shouts of your friends as they run towards you. Grabbing the rope you both pull the woman down and Arak almost sits on her to keep her on the floor. Again around you a crowd has formed and all is quiet as they hold their breath wondering what you will do next...

Knok looks around and with a gesture casts detect magic. The trail - somewhat stronger this time continues onwards as far as the spells range goes (60ft)

[Actions - the group are now together. Just so we know:

So there are 8 of you in the group :) Should survive a little bit then... ]

Thak will go up and take his brothers place holding down the woman, thus freeing him up to use his magic because he feel's it will be needed. Hopefully Caligula will have sobered up enough to heal him of the damage he took while trying to douse the orcs flames.

Knok points off in the direction he sences that this mischeif is being caused from 'What ever is caused, or is causing this is over there someway I am not sure quite how far off at the moment, but it will be aware of us by now'

Siggni wil put herself betwen the group and direction indicated by Knock just at the edge of the action and stand nervously behind her shield, axe lowered but ready. All this open use of magic is making her nervous, prefering something physical that will try and hit her and that she, in turn can hit back.

"Hurry up back there - we have a date with a bad head at der beerhall that I'd like to keep"

When the spell has wore off/ been dispeled, Thak will stand beside Siggni, putting himself between possible foe's and the group/his brother, Gutter in hand ready to deal out death.

"Whatever happen's" he grin's to Siggni, "The taste of steel shall be bitter" Not liking Magic any more than the northern barb. And liking the sound of Ale.

Bamoin , seeing that everything is under control ,heads out in the direction Knok points looking for anyone doing anything suspitious.

[OOC: I'd meant that I would wild shape into a wolf, but then on the other hand I didn't know about my wolf. FYI my gnome prefers his animal form more than gnomish form in most occasions, especially now due to the speed that a wolf has compared to his speed as a gnome... Hence the 'feral' bit. :)]

Belwar wild shapes into a wolf and follows Thak and Siggni, looking for anything hostile to put his teeth in. He tries to influence his animal companion to follow him, instead of rushing headalong into battle alone.

A deep growl ensues from his throat as he positions himself near Siggni.

[OOC No problems Kaers. I assumed as your gnome was feral that a wolf companion would be suited for him. Also no problem on the wild shape bit. Perhaps the gnome is a bit like Belgarath and his missus who whos name eludes me. ..

the wolf with Belwar is female and is / has been attrached by Belwar in his wolf form .. often the wolf is puzzled when he takes on the gnomish form. .... that kind of thing... ]

Arak looks thankfully at Thak:

"Careful where you wave that thing, and try and get that priest around for a bit of protection - the Gods have to be useful for something."

He is concerned by the robed figure, and also casts detect magic, also preparing to follow the trail, suspecting that it might end with him. He gets ready any immobolising spells that he might have available. Failing that, he prepares a spell that might distract or surprise his opponent (such telekinesis, or even an in/evocation spell on a nearby cart/barrel etc - anything that will cause him to lose his guard). If he is successful here, he will charge towards him, and wrestle him to the ground - his overriding intention is to detain the figure (assuming he appears to be associated with the problems), rather than kill him, to allow further questioning.

Caligula's head rests firmly in his hands as he sits, very drunk and more than a little depressed, on the doorstep of a nearby house. Watching the commotion appears to have little interest to him, moreso given his (in his opinion) inexcusable ejection from the inn.

Muttering something about "Bloody tav'rn ownersh", "Burninging people ruinin' hish bloody day" and "People shelfish enough to want shome healing", he stands up. Then sits down again as his head swims and his eyes blur. On the third attempt he manages to stand with the considerable amount of help given to him by the doorframe and weaves a zig zag path over to Thak.

With a totally empty gaze, he tries to stare at the Half Orc barbarian with some semblance of intelligence. Failing, he sits down and gestures to Thak to do the same, in the hope that using his legs won't become a necessity for the next few minutes.

Staring at his hand as if expecting it to take on the task by itself ("Eashy job, thish healing lark"), he does his best to placate and heal him.
