Turn 43 - Returning to Ptolus

You collect Kalerecant and the body of the monk and return back to the city. After a day or so underground you are blinded somewhat by the late afternoon sun.

Kalerecant suggests you meet with him at the Church of Lothian around mid morning tomorrow - something you all eagerly agree with, if only to collect a reward promised you by Brother Thisk.

So with the day wearing on you decide to venture to the Ghostly Minstrel in hope of meeting up with Jevvica. Whilst you wait you sample local ales and wines - generally lifting your spirits after the hard battles you have fought.

Around 8pm Jevvica arrives, and on seeing you joins you at your table. She says little of those missing and those newly joined.

You explain what you know - Of the Quaan, of their attempt to enter the warrens thus releasing the Dark elf and other creatures and them trying to pass through a sealed doorway. She listens quietly and at the end smiles at you.

"That is all you know? Do you know who these Quaan are and why they may wish to enter the Banewarrens?"

[OOC Unless anyone wants to interject comments here]

Upon hearing your responses she frowns, "Well friends it is important that you find out more about these Quaan, why they wish to enter the warrens. In fact if as you suggest one has passed the sealed door then there is a great chance they could be opened, releasing the evil they contain. You must discover how much of a risk this poses. And find a way to reseal and close the Banewarrens. It will do us no good if that is not done."

She hands over small bags to each of you - (there is 1 bag short - Risach and Aceed will have to split Siggnis 700gp reward between them) and you quickly realise this is the remainder of the fee she owed.

"If you will continue to work for me. LEarn more of the Banewarrens and how to enter that door, stop these Quaan I can offer you each the following - An Item - of any kind, worth upto a street value of 2,000gps Deliverable in 1 week. What say you?"

OOC - Do people want to level themselves up or want me to level your character for you with a best fit?

Thak eye's bulge at the sight of the gold and the thought of more fighting, he almosts spit's his ale back into the flaggon, almost.

He grins and look's at his brother. But will go with the will of the group as he's busy trying to win his gold back of Bamion.

i'll go for a best fit thingy, as whenever i start looking at rules for rangers i get all confused...

Well acording to the new rules I think I get the following :

17 int = +3 mod
+8 per level = 11 skill points.

Current Skills:
Skills: Appraise +8, Balance +12, Bluff +7, Climb +11, Decipher Script +6, Disable Device +9, Hide +19, Jump +11, Listen +9, Move Silently +13, Open Lock +7, Search +10, Sleight of Hand +12, Spot +9, Tumble +16, Use Magic Device +8, Use Rope +11.

So I think I would like to spread them out as follows:

Listen +2 = 11
Search +2 = 12
Spot +2 = 11
Escape artist +5 = 5

Ps. did any of the gems in the casket come loose ? if so we'll sell em ;)

Also why am I on -1 level ???

That would be the wight that hit you ;-) dont worry once we move on and go see brother thisk everyone suffering neg levels or attrbute loss will be fixed ;-)

Directly from Druid progress table:

Saves don't change
Wild Shape 3x/day
New spells: 1 orison, 1 1st level spell and 1 4th level spell

Skill picks: 4 + 2 (int) = 6... Placing them out like this (add this to the old value)
Knowledge (Nature) 1
Concentration 1
Spot 1
Listen 1
Spellcraft 1
Handle Animal 1

The new number of spells I can cast should be this:
Spells Prepared (Drd 6/4/3/2/1 + 0/1/1/1/1 (Wis 18)):

* 0 Detect Magic x3, Fire Eyes (MotW), Resistance, Light
* 1st: Power Sight (MotW), Cure Light Winds x3, Obscuring Moist
* 2nd: Barkskin, Bear's Strength, Bear's Endurance, Soften Earth and Stone
* 3rd: Magic Fang, Greater; Call Lightning x2
* 4th: Flame Strike x2

Hmm, guess I've gotten high level enough to make my powergaming instincts take control. Beware, you've got a mad druid in your party. And Oi'er Zed! Brown Bear will be my new Wild Shape form that I'll mostly use (i.e unless some special form is required). Don't know why the heck I earlier went with Dire Wolf, but what the hell... Brown Bear has simply greater damage output than the Dire Wolf or Dire Boar.
