Turn 8 - Propositino

[OOC no problems with the basic stuff people wanted. Im assuming the group have all the required stuff to adventure with including mounts. Not that youll need them for a while. *cough*]

The inn is busy. It seemed to be a fairly upmarket inn, a place where, by the looks of things, many of the militia chose to spend their well earned pay. Entering the inn you are greeted with a raccaus applause and flagons of ale or skins of wine are soon thrust into your hands.

In a corner slightly muted by the din a bard composes a tune which seems to, almost, accurately follow your exploits. After a while things settle down as people pass out around you.

It is perhaps nearing 10pm when a tall, slender woman slides herself onto your table. She has flame red hair which is further highlighted by the green robe she wears. However each of you are drawn to her left arm. It appears to be made of glass, red glass. Though it moves as if it where skin.

"I am to congratulate you on your intelligence and prowess today" she says without any preamble. "My name is Jevvica. You, (She looks at Jial) where impressive in the least with that bow of yours. As were you Master Elf. It is a shame that you cut down the architect but I understand that his afflication was a rather nasty one." She paused a moment and smiled at Thak, "Im also pleased to see that your afflication has since stopped. It would cause a small riot in here where you to suddenly cause things to open of their own accord"

It is obvious from her conversation she is well versed in your exploits of the day. She seemed to pose no threat to you and you sit listening to her.

"I know something of what has happened today. Therein lies a proposition I have to ask of you. Are you Interested?"

[Assuming youll answer yes...]

The creature you fought was, if you hadnt guessed, a Black Elf. Legends talk of these as more evil than their descendant Dark elves. The one you slew was perhaps the last one in existance in the whole world. It had escaped from a place thought lost, or perhaps merely legend itself. The Banewarrens.

So called, the Banewarrens where originally a place devised by a great Cleric of Hieroneous to hold all the things that brought evil to the world. Diseases, creatures of a deadly nature, Items crafted for evil, Tomes containing forbidden knowledge. You get the idea. However this cleric, in dealing with that which he abhorred became tempted and soon the banewarrens became not a prison but something more.

Fortunately it was sealed with powerful magics and to be honest thought buried or lost in legends.

IT seems however that this perhaps was not the case, and somehow that Black Elf escaped from within. I believe I know of the location or at least the area where the elf gained entrance to the city. If indeed the Warrens have been reopened it is imperative we reseal them. To that end is my proposition:

I represent an ancient order steeped in knowledge. WE would pay you each 850gps to discover how the creature left and whether or not the warrens have been opened. If so, how they were opened and how they can be closed? What do you say?

[Ask questions at this point]

...............................

A couple of hours after the glass arm woman left you are approached by a cleric. He smiles as he stands near you. "Are you the Heroes Ive heard tales about today?"

Feeling boyed by your fame you nod and laugh loudly. He smiled again and nodded. "Good, Good. I need some help from those such as yourself. Would you hear me out?"

Gesturing to the vacant stool you nod. He takes the seat and you take a moment to study the man. Grey streaks through his brown hair and the lines around his eyes put him in his late forties, early fifties. He wears the symbol of Lothian, a new 'God' [worshipped now for 2 centuries] He is unarmed yet you sense strength within him. He nods to you as he begin:

My name is Fabitor Thisk. I represent the church of Lothian. Though i'm sure that part is evident. 3 Days ago our Champion, Kalerecent - Palladin to our order here in Ptolus walked out of my humble church in midtown. He has not been seen since. We have of course searched the city ourselves but to know avail. Earlier today in divination with my God I had a feeling that the events you dealt with where somehow connected to his dissapearance. So as you are already connected to those events I came to seek you out and enlist your help in locating our Champion. Should you accept we will pay you 2000gps upon the return of our champion to us.

[OOC So two offers. Neither appear connected to the other, both willing to pay. What do you think. Any questions for either Jevvica or Thisk? Any questions for me? If not we can move on!!]

Bamoin looks to his fellow travellers and whispers " I think we should take both jobs, a Black elf locked away by a cleric's magis appearing , and a do goody cleric worshiping Paladin going missing ? I smells something fishy "

[ooc: I will ask Jevvica , does she know where the entrance is supposed to be ? ]

[ooc2 : and ask Fabitor Thisk if Kalerecent was acting strange, orlooking into any particular research over the last few days ? As we all know Paladins are always looking for more and more impure things to vanquish ]

Thak payed no heed to flame haired female and her offer until he himself and what happened early on in the day with the buckles and strange goings on was mentioned. (Clue?)

Upon hearing his name he removed his snout from a Flagon and looked towards the strange lady. Her Eye's met him, he felt uneasy she knew his buisness. "What you know of me, and what you want woman? The other offer is wasted upon him because he is consumed with the strange armed female so he will follow the party with that task

Thak looks towards Arak because his brother is versed and wise.

Please mate/brother revoke your meow spell :)

Belwar sits in his corner and asks Jevvica... "Besides getting a little monetary sum here, what does it concern us what the clerics of Heironeus have failed to accomplish? Why can't they act in order to seal it?"

(ooc: Darn this reminds me too much of a place in BG2's expansion cd, don't remember the name of the place but it sure was dangerous.. :) )

Questions answered:

1. Location: She nods, I do. However I will not tell you the location here, we cannot be too carefull as to who might be listening. I shall send a courier with a map tomorrow first light.

2. Kalerecant acting strange: Nothing untowards. He was his usual self, talking of doign the work of Heironeus. It is odd, he never stays away this long and never misses his duties when hes in the city.

3. Question of more black elves: Jevvica shakes her head. "You may be forgiven if you think i am saddened by the death of the last of its kind. They were particularly cruel. Their weaker descendandts - those which are called Drow, whilst evil, cruel and sadistical pale into insignificance compared to this particular race. The one you killed was the last. A weak on at that.

4. Why bother doing this: There is a silence. The magics that were used have been lost to us over time. Heronious himself did not participate in the creation of the Warrens, rather 3 beings of power assited in their making. Magics now lost to us where used. Should the contents be unleashed - it will be a travesty on the planet. A blight of evil like that which has never been seen.

[Any more beofre i continue?]

Belwar starts mumbling to himself about something to do with what he could do with 20.000 gp, until he notices that somebody probably heard him muttering, and quickly but carefully changes his sayings to include nature, evil and plague. He nods appreciatevely towards Javvica.

[OOC - ok, so the post I made a couple of days ago isn't here :/]

Arak notes that it's unlikely that a weak Black Elf would have survived whilst the rest of its kind were obliterated, and so he concludes that it was either a) some form of trick, b) it wasn't really a Black Elf, c) the Black Elf had been weakened prior to the battle, and d) that there are actually a **** load of the little bastards running around that we don't know about. Either way, Jevvica appears to be being deceptive.

Arak then looks towards Thak: "I don't know why you're assuming that I'm responsible for your sword's affliction. It's merely a wide-spread magical disease that affects weapons used often in battle, which then begin to reflect the characteristics of the wielder. I'm not entirely sure why the result has been something pink and fluffy however..."
