Ahh was going to post something up about this, Medi saved me making a new thread :)

Current online support =
There Online shop
Opera browser
E-mailing normal e-mail accounts and other Wii's
Sending Mii's to other people's Wii's

Q) Does that mean there are no online games at the moment ?
A) Correct, no games currently support online play, while in theory the network is there and the online support caterered for (the Wii address book)

Q) When will the first game supporting online be released ?
A) Pokemon Battle Stadium, though in the UK we may find a different title is the first one with online support, it's not clear at the mo.

Q) What other up coming games will support online play ?
A) Super Smash Brothers Brawl, Metroid Prime 3 (rumour it's being delayed so it will include online play), Mario Strikers, Battalion Wars 2

Q) What no Mario Kart ?
A) Nothing I've seen announced as yet, but I'm sure it'll be there

Q) I can't help but notice all those are 1st Party titles, are any 3rd party titles supporting online play ?
A) None that are announced (insert historical comments about the GC 3rd party support here)

Q) Whats the first game to support the DS ?
A) Well that's not really a question about online stuff is it, but as it's the same title to gain "first wii online game" status I may as well say pokemon battle stadium using the touch screen to select the move you want your pokemon to do.

As Roch says though party games really do well on the Wii, can't wait till warioware smooth moves is released.

Oops I got the name wrong, it's Pokemon Battle Revolution, looking on IGN it also:

"allows you to import your Pokemon from the DS games Pokemon Diamond & Pearl to play on the big screen."

So I might have to try and track down that DS game to gain a sneaky advantage :)

5 vids of it on IGN

COD3 got bad reviews, so I steered clear of it, though Gottaa has been swearing by it. Zelda is wicked... basically Ocarina which is largely considered to be the best of the series. Wii Sports is a lot of fun, and Wii Play is a bit of a waste of time. Rayman seems to be the best party game out there atm.

I got COD3 as I figured it was the best launch FPS title from the various reviews and things I read, I'm hoping to rent Red Steel early next year and so a better comparisson but if you like FPS and you want to see how FPS controls will be and like the COD series you really can't go wrong with COD3. Red Steel has sword fighting but the controls I read are not as adjustable as COD and lead to a more annoying control scheme, though it must also be said after tweaking COD3 controls I now use it with what sounds very similar to the controls the reviewers didn't like in Red Steel, which is large area to move the sights around in and small areas on the side/top/bottom which cause the camera to move.

Zelda I've yet to play apart from diving on it while Talili has her back turned, her play time so far is 12 hours and I read it's a 90 hour+ game if you just follow the main story arc and do everything correctly (which is pretty darn massive but one really solid RPG game as you'd expect from Zelda).

If I was given the choice of Zelda or COD3 I'd go with zelda every time though, if you even remotely like those kinda things, COD3 is a solid FPS but Zelda is in a different class, it's basically to me like a game for a console that's been out for a few years rather than the usual slightly unpolished launch titles. Zelda may become a time vampire more than say COD3 will be thats a good thing :D

Rayman is the best party game out right now, though wario smooth moves isn't far away, monkey ball has actually grown on me a little, but now it's just something I don't feel so bad about buying, I still wouldn't really recommend it.

If you could only get one game, get Zelda, if you can stretch and like COD series get Zelda and COD3, though if you like the idea of swords Red Steel I think will be worth a punt, accept it's a launch title and controls aren't perfect and there is supposed to still be a really solid FPS title in there.

Tip: All FPS titles seem to need about 30 mins to an hour of "getting used to" time, kinda like the first time you ever picked up a console controller, once over that bump you're away :)

Edit: Okay Talili tells me Zelda is SO good she was playing it swung her sword and our fence in the back garden blew over, BEAT THAT !!!

Wearing pants, reluctantly.
CoD3 offers nothing new over CoD2, which is why it was poorly reviewed. Prolly worth while getting if you want to play an fps on a console. (Rainbow 6 for the 360 is much better tho, and online )

If god had wanted man to play FPS on consoles.. he wouldnt have made our hands exactly the right shape to fight on a razor mouse and our fingers the differing lengths to comfortably sit above WASD :D

You tried an FPS on the Wii yet Marks ? While it doesn't give that accuracy and speed that mouse/keyboard does it's a nice step up from the standard thumb-stick controls of normal consoles, once you've spent that hour or so getting used to the Wii controls.

And as there are no online shooters on the Wii's launch lineup it not being online isn't really something I'm unhappy about, though if Metroid Prime 3 does have online support it's going to be a giggle, and easy to spot the ones new to FPS on the Wii as they will be spinning in circles on the spot :D

Zelda is terrific. Outside of that, Rayman is the most underrated launch title. Loads of fun.

Wonder if Leisure Suit Larry will be out for the Wii and what sort of strap on controllers you could buy for it :p

Jury is still out for me tbh, its a ton of fun.. and great with people+beer.. but then so are most consoles... gonna sit on the fence till at least the summer and see how things develop

Rayman seems to generally be 2nd to 4th in sales numbers on the places I look at, so it can't be that underrated :)

Not a bad idea waiting Marks if you aren't sure, also means by then may be some deals with the release titles being bundled in cheap, and should be easier to get your hands on them, my brother is still trying to get his hands on one.
