50 quid says Cricket will still make the back pages, especially if England win this match. The Ashes happens once every 4 years in this country and therefore gets the coverage it deserves.

Sundays papers - main headline only count - any genuine Sunday paper ranging from The Sport, The New of the World, Sunday Mirror, The People, Mail on Sunday, Sunday Express, Gaurdian, Times, Independent.

If there are more football back page headlines I win, if there is more cricket ones you win.

No, you said you'd keep Cricket OFF the back pages.

Tomorrow the football season starts proper, cricket will be relegated from the back pages

Of course there will be MORE football headlines. Champions League, Premiership, Championship, UEFA Cup, World Cup Qualifiers versus The Ashes.

You do talk crap :p

Test Cricket is covered on 5 Live Extra and always has been so your point is? Nothing as usual. Anyway, keep trying.

"Cricket, with its connotations of genteel folk sipping tea on the village green, doesn't seem the most obvious match with the more flamboyant aspects of gay culture. "

LOL.

umm, correct me if i'm wrong, but isnt Roy Keane irish? and therefore has no effect on whether half the country are watching it, and i would like proof to back up your views that 26 million sat glued to the TV (and it would have to be some pretty strong glue to make me sit through even 5 minutes of it) because some guys wanted to hit a ball with a bat better than some other guys.
and lets face it, England are shite at just about every sport involving a ball, and dont go throwing how bad Scotland are at football down my throat, cos we know we are, we just take it all in good stride and dont go resorting to violence cause Beckham skyrocketed a penalty.

Cricket = waste of time, space and effort

Athletics = Humans at the peak of their ability testing themselves against others in the same state in their chosen discipline

Roy Keane probably turned up at old trafford expecting to play, he is afterall irish ;) I bet yesterdays 'crowds' even if they were all allowed in would still be the lowest at Old Trafford this season :p
