Worked a treat! I still think its me ram, sneaking suspicion theres two different brands and thats causing the problem. But hey, its working so thanks for all the help

As far as I know, the only thing the proper install routine does (aside from extracting all the files off the discs) is create short cuts and registry entries.

If you copy the directory then you have to create the short cuts yourself but the registry entries should be created the first time you run the game.

Some patch routines will fail claiming they "cannot find blad blah blah". Just manually DL the latest patch files into your wow directory and run it. This'll not only patch you, but put all the relevant registry / conmfig entries in.

Hmm, don't think I've had any problems in the past other than a vague recollection of having to tell the registry where the WoW folder was once.
