The problem is with these 'lets stop the X-Factor getting to number 1!!!' facebook campaigns is all they do is give the X-Factor more hype and paper time. I heard more about last years X-Factor winner because of the whole 'Rage Against the Machine' (incidently a joke of a band back in the 90's) vs the X Factor, than a normal. Simon Cowell probably couldn't believe his luck, the people who were supposedly against his product were actually promoting it....

At the end of the day who cares whats at number 1 thesedays, even at Christmas - I couldn't name one song that has been number 1 this year!

yeah have to agree, the chats really don't pay that much attenion any more, each channel has its own version of a chat and singles just don't sell as much these days. its liek the world is moving on from them, and i've also noticed less people realseing singles and just sticking with albums in the past few years....

ya, i dont know the last time i bought a single tbh, albums are so cheap with itunes anyway... and it just gets annoying having to select tracks all the time, prefer to just select an album and let it play through.

Last year was also a farce in the fact that the band that beat Mceldery to no 1 also had something to do with Simon Cowel somewhere down the line, so he just got a little bit richer anyway.

Add in the fact the whole 'vs' hype thing meant the X-Factor single although it didn't go to number one actually sold more copies than it would have normally, means more cash for Mr Cowell.
