1st Day of Prem.

They were shite in the community shield and took advantage of two defensive errors.

Come Sunday they'll have to play out of their skins, hope we're shite or rely on their usual luck to see them through.

Anyone watch the Chavs game yesterday ? Thought they were truly crap.

But they won.
I thought Man Utd and Liverpool had important first games, tough away games, if they want to challenge for the title they had to win these kindoff games. Man Utd look good and got the points, Liverpool looked pretty good but didn't win - I think Liverpool are going to have to gamble more away from home.

Top start for the Spurs - yer one was a own goal but hey a goal is a goal!! And what a sweet second!!

And havin Robinson as my fantasy goalie and captian ment 14 points and position number 2 in my fantasy league for the ole Pooner - if I hadn't had 2 of my startin line-up injured and replaced by lesser players it would have been ever better *grumble*

0-0 v Middlesborough is poor though really mate. That's a game you need to win if you're thinking top 4/3.

0-0 is better than 1-2 :)

Told you Boro are a good side at their gaff.

Spurs were impressive; the TV highlights didnt do the match justice. A draw was about right. Jol is a good manager and has put a good squad together. Stuart Pearce is going to be a good manager also. Future England manager imo.

We've yet to concede a goal, but we've got Waccckkkeeem to contend with on Tuesday, the Mancs next Sunday and Chelski the week after, so I'm not going to gloat too much mind.

The 1-2 scoreline is one of the most flattering you will see this season. :)

How we were not 4 or 5 up before half time I will never know. The second half they played a bit better but only defensively. Both of their goals were shocking defensive errors and one was from a break where we had a fair penalty appeal.

Its difficult to see how we are going to go this season. We haven't actually had a bad game yet and nothing that you could say we are missing Vieira terribly. We lost to the chavs in a close game to a freak deflection, beat Newcastle and Fulham and lost a very freaky game yesterday.

I think we're pretty much ****ed unless Wenger gets them playing with width again and stops all this bullshit of trying to walk the ball into the net.

Once again I lost track of the number of times we cut through their midfield, got to the edge of the area and gave the ball away through attempting vitually impossible passes and/or just having no idea what to do next.

Every time it happens, you can see the confidence fade a little more.

We did create enough clear chances to win the game easily though.

I'm worried that a lot of teams now seem to be following the Chelsea way partly. Don't let them score at any cost even if it means not scoring ourselves.

With our lack of a plan B, its going to be harder to break teams down.

Arsenal has started like Man Utd last season, an early confidence bashing at the hands of Chelsea and no real form yet, you could argue they are already out of the title race.

Exactly. We play narrow and try to go through the opposition which doesn't work half the time.

Reyes was unlucky but a lot of the time when we shoot, it's along the ground. If we shot higher at the goal, we'd score more IMO. Sure we'd miss a few more but the keeper would save a lot less.

I can't see us winning the title this season.

As much as I despise Manure, at least they win by playing attacking football. Chavski win by defence and attrition.

Arsenal play wingers but never seem to cross the ball, I guess Henry for all his goal scoring ability isn't much of a header of the ball, they should buy a different type of striker a more physical one so they can change things around when plan A isn't working.

S'why I thought we should have bought Owen.

I suspect Wenger hopes Lupoli will become the striker we need.

Aye Aggy and Tree are spot on I reckon. Arsenal have no plan B at all. I dont think Owen would have been what you need; too similar to Reyes, except Reyes is better. As for deserving to win, well thats 3 out of the last 6 Prem games they've lost.

If Henry is off at the end of this season - and they'll have to sell with only 12 months left on his contract, it may well be time for a new manager. Never thought I'd say that about Wenger.

There's been a lot of nonsense written about Arsenal since Vieira went and I think its far from the end of us as a dominant force. Wenger and Dein are far to shrewd to watch it all fall down now. It may take a year or two of transition, but the new ground will bring in an extra 25mil a year just from gate reciepts and thats without the Emirate and other sponsorships.

With the young talent we have plus the money and Wenger, we'll be fine. It may just mean a couple of seasons without a Premierhip title.

Henry is doing what any player will do at his age. He is 28, so a move if it happens will be his last big one. If I was him I would also wait to see what happens over the next season or two before putting pen to a new deal. If he is not happy he will go, if he is he won't. Its going to happen at some point anyway. Brady left, Mac left, Stapleton, Rocastle, Thomas, Wright, Petit, Overmars, Vieira. All players leave eventually and a clubs success is not built on just any one of them.

Its probably worth remembering as well that apart from Chelsea and ManU, most of the other Premiership teams would probably happily swap their season for our transitional one. :)

It was funny watching Barcelona last night. At one point the commentator said that it wasn't a full house in the Camp Nou, only 85,000 turned out for the game. Had to chuckle.

I don't think we're in a crisis or in danger of falling apart.

I just think we've lost our way tactically somewhat and aren't in a position to challenge for the Premiership with the current squad.

I don't see him changing things though mate do you? He seems to want to play total football all of the time without exception.

I imagine that with extra money and higher profile next year, he'll be able to buy who he wants to keep playing how he wants to play.
