360 - Left 4 Dead - Sunday

Played some random games today.

Not sure what difficulty the hosts had it on but it was far from a cake walk. Really all out action followed by the odd lull here and there. It all seems about beating off the wave and then progressing before the next wave. No tense sneaking about here.

Observations:

Stop f***ing wandering off on your own you twat!!!

Tanks are a bitch.

Witches not as bad as first thought. Actually the tank and the witch can be dealt with pretty quickly with some concerted fire.

Pipe bombs good for a breather.

Deal with Boomers at range asap.

The knock away attack plus shootgun is a great combo.

Had some manic fights trying to fight off the hordes in a house on the Bloody Harvest level I think it was.

All in all great fun game so far.

Has this got more long term play than Fallout 3? I both are very diff games, but going to buy 1 game out of these 2 before I am officially redundant :D

I can't see that it has mate tbh. I've got about 40hrs+ in Fallout 3 and still going. If you have a regular good group maybe.

I hated Mass Effect, all the dialogue bored me to tears, is Fallout 3 got more action and immersion? I like the idea of wandering off and doing my own thing.

L4D might be put on the shelf after a few plays through the game I'm thinking, is it likely to be another TF2 scenario?

I wasn't quite sure about L4D and was going to rent it first. However I couldn't resist and picked it up on Friday and to be honest I'm hooked. Even though there are only 4 levels (each split into 5 chapters) the way the AI director mixes things up mean that it always plays differently each time (abit like the Diablo games I suppose), the Maps are huge as well and quite open in parts. The Survivors vs the Zombies is the real star mode though, this is great fun - just a shame only two of the levels can be played like this so far.

I think you'll love Fallout then mate. Generally the dialogue amount is just whats required for the quest or to progress the main story and its also generally well acted. There's a fair bit obviously as its an RPG but not the amount of Mass Effect.

I spend most of my time though exploring the world. Honestly mate I've never played a game with as much immersion. It beats Bioshock for me. It does have a similar vibe to Oblivion though so if you weren't keen on that then.....

Played through the first two chapters co-op last night and had a lot of fun.

The AI director seems to get the balance just right although the survive until the boat or helicopter arrives sections are really hard on the highest difficulty. Especially if you have any AI party members.

In fact the only negatives so far are that the AI party members are rubbish. Considering its a pretty simple concept I expected more work to go into the party AI. Also there is too much ammo lying about. :)

I logged on briefly, but the weekend has got away from me, been cleaning, organising my music, getting the roast dinner going (read in 2 hours and it's already smelling scrummy), and trying to work out how I've injured my knee.

Maybe next weekend

Got this on PC, haven't played it yet, hopefully it won't crash every 10 minutes like fallout 3 on PC :p

And thus all threads become fallout3 threads :)

It's pretty good to be honest. I was dissapointed to begin with then patched it so it din't crash when i tried stuff like Shooting or Walking, and it improved the experience immensely.

I'm presuming they'll be releasing versus modes for the other two campaigns.

I was a little disappointed that the 4 story arcs didn't link together, personally. Hardly a big issue, but since everything has been put together so well, a little cut-scene of some sort (and a final one) would've been nice.

Ah well, it's still very polished.

Dead Again, I need a Rez
I like the airport campaign, the last lvl with that airplane crash is just amazing to watch

The VS maps are slightly different from the normal ones as they have hidden areas so the infected can get around.

Rors in the development commentary's they actually said they had intros to the campaigns but removed them as the players got bored waiting and just wanted to get into the action

Ohh kinda last minute will people be around tonight ? 360 version as the thread suggests

I've got to fiddle with the time capsule and new virgin connection to get things working at home again properly, but if anyone will be around I'll hopefully join you once I get things working.

Really? Bah, they should still be included in the game. Obviously it'd get annoying if it played before every game, but you could skip it, or at least have it in the extras bit.

Will probably be on mate doing some co-op. Give me a shout if you get on.

Wireless network up and running, just, no idea why but now using "n" wireless and everything seems much more sluggish, and the download speed is 18MB per second, do :D and :( at the same time.

360 isn't connecting at all, and no idea how to fiddle with the time capsules settings to get it to work. Going to pour a wine and relax.

And before people start this is wireless/networking issues not consoles, it took 10 minutes to get Vista connected and suddenly it doesn't want to bridge the network to the 360 like it used to, I'm not sure if it's from the security update Vista got this morning
