I play mate, both online using Fantasy Grounds and tabletop with a group every week.

Whereabouts in Manchester are you by the way as I know there is a shop on Newton Street which has a gaming room for tabletop? You have to pay to play but I don't think it's a vast amount.

There may well be a noticeboard in there as well for groups.

I don't actaul know what they play as i don't go my self :) got a number of mates that go, and what happens is that a GM will post what games he wants to run and one what night, and you simple put your name down and turn up.

I run the fantasy grounds Game Soron is refer to. Of course he might have more than one on the go ;-)

We are playing loosely in Eberron for the FG game. It gives you everything though that you need in one neat little package. Its damn good if a lot of work for the DM to manage everything.

I play table top a couple times a week as well. for these you realistically need an inch square combat map and a load of minis or counters. I grab lots of the dnD minis - buy them in singles from various US places via Ebay and save a fortune.

If your wondering about any part of hte game rules wise there are several of us lurking here who know 3.5 very well so just ask and i'm sure we can help ya out.

Living in the channel islands there is not much of a community here, but I would be up for a regular game using fantasygrounds.

anyone else?

Watch those AoO rules.... they are an absolute pain in the ass and 4 years of playing later we still get it wrong..

Pff, AoO are easy :)
Just cast defensively and only use 5 foot steps in threatened areas, and you're sorted :p

When does a charge provoke an AoO?
Does a withdraw provoke AoO?
does shooting a longbow provoke AoO? What about a crossbow?

C'mon those ones are easy... its when it gets way more tactical ;-)

Whilst im at it. Casting defensively does my head in. For a well built Wizzy or Sorc casting defensively is the only way to cast in close combat. You generally should never ever fail the check. For this reason in a couple of my pnp games we changed the values ot make it much harder to accomplish.

Mind you, playing a sorceror in one game I pretty much fight defensively at all times.

When charging through threatened areas (such as creatures with reach)
Nope
Yes, and I believe so. If the firing doesn't, the reloading will

And yes, those one's are easy ones, comparatively.

When you say you changed the values, do you mean you upped the standard DC's for it? 'cause I hate the casting defensively rule. Auto-fail on a 1 for spellcraft should return :(

Withdraw provokes the same as charging. If you withdraw from someone with reach, or you pass through other threatened squares.

We played with using a mechanic similar to Feint. Ala : DC15 + spell level + opponents BAB (and only BAB) makes it much more difficult AND means those pesky fighters who are swingng fuck off huge swords in your face increase the difficulty somewhat of getting a spell off ;-)
