Santa brought me last night on earth in his rather large sack!

Quick read through last night, and i can see enough differences (not least the zombie lord vs players aspect) to Zombicide that i supect both will offer very different play experiences.

zombicide is superb. My 8yr old and 4yr old were playing along with the 4yr old actually accruing more Exp than the rest of us!!!

I tried to convince Gottaa that me getting the X-Wing game would be a good idea and he said no. Next time i'm down we are in his local gaming shop and hes casually says, "That X-Wing game looks good." Contrary bugger, /sigh.
It's actually pretty good in a occasional beer and pretzels sort of way. Friend of mine has it and it's been played a few times now. Really simple to set up and play and well thought out so there's almost no arguing about rules or who's where etc.

Really recommend it...

Oh, and Munchkin is ridiculous amounts of fun as well

Ok so I picked up Castle Panic! for the kids this Christmas and it was a very, very good investment.

Easy to play for a 7 & 9 year old with enough strategy to keep me interested and the kids more than entertained. As an added bonus it is entirely co-operative (your team is defending a castle against hordes of beasties so arguments are minimal). I'm gonna pick up the expansion for it as it looks pretty fun too.

Highly recommended if you're looking for a game either for a fast turn-around (no game was more than 1 hour) and it is simple enough for kids to understand and have a lot of fun with.

Think i saw a picture from WatchitPlayed (Rodney Smith) showing this game and it looked interesting. Maybe ill take a closer look and add it to my possible buy list for 2013!!!

You guys are going to cost me lots of money :p

Tempted by Castle Panic as Corwin (my one :p) is just old enough to start playing such things I reckon.

Castle Panic or zombiecide for a 11yr old & 13yr old?

Interested in something that is easy to play and takes only an hour or so.

Got Munchkin so far.

Bloody hell - 70 for a board game! (Zombicide)

Not played Zombiecide, but I hear a lot of talk about Munchkin. Is it a game I could play with my kids d'ya think?

Looking at Munchkin, it seems like a simplified version of Advanced Heroquest which I already play with the kids. Anyone have any experience of both games and able to give pros and cons?

Only played Munchkin quest and if it helps I didn't struggle and as usual didn't read the rules (rules are usually boring to read), got a game up and running quickly and me and Cad had alot of fun

Swither - get the Carcasonne base set, costs about 12 or so. It is a tile laying game where you score points for claiming completed cities, roads and monasteries, for example. If you like it there are some nice expansions. They are getting to the age where things like Ticket to Ride could be a good option. Carcasonne should take about 40 mins, TTR probably just over an hour.
Guy - Munchkin is a very simple card game of trying to get your character up levels, killing monsters and taking their treasure. It is humorous, and probably worth getting if you like Heroquest. Not the best game out these, but I play it occasionally, and will probably go down well with the kids.
Check out boardgamegeek.com to see what the games look like:)

Munchkin on tabletop was purely the cardgame though, and not the boardgame that I've played

Munchkin is fun to play occasionally but it tends to end up like Monopoly where someone is clearly going to win and you just wish they'd get on with it so you can play something else.

Zombicide. My 4yr old played it and actually came out on top (although you cannot actually beat your game mates as its coop).

as for 70. Its actually worth every penny. The models alone (all 72or so of them) are superb. Little to no mould lines that need cleaning. Paint up very nicely.

But its actually better than 70. i bought mine from here http://www.gameslore.com/acatalog/PR_Zombicide_Board_Game.html

And you get a further discount off it so its pretty good value.

We need a clan boardgame fest somewhere :)
