Looks great, like the Art deco thing. I see Vikings in there, wonder if they will be playable in an expansion.

Im getting the collectors edition from Game, it uses Steamworks so you should be able to get the box version and still use it on Steam

Sexy?
Mine has arrived, yeah, it is steamworks though which does have the drawback that I can't play till midnight :(

argh, i hate steam soooo much. i'm sure its lovely for people with real internet connections that can have it on all the time. but for me, every time i get a game that needs it, i have to spend hours getting it working, because its auto updates fall over each other and break it repeatedly...

and yay, i cant even install it yet, because its 'not available in my country'. so come midnight, i get to faff around installing it, and then i'll bet before it'll let me play it, it'll download a load of patches. rubbish program.

Yes, but you should buy Civ 1 and 3 first

I'll have a play when I get home from work tonight.

Civ 3 was an abomination.

this. Civ 3 was horrible :D Civ 4 was good, but didn't get into it.

My biggest gripe about civ 3 was the lack of supported windowed mode. If a game is going to suck away 80% of my life (20% sleep), then it better let me check my emails while i'm playing!

I'm still not sure that I "get it"

I hate no unit stacking and I hate paying for roads.... and kicking the shit out of people seems far too easy. And how is my city lauching rocks at passing enemies with no soldiers in it? And why for the love of God can't I buy a unit when there is already a unit garrisoned in the goddamn city?!

Still, it's pretty and I play it for 20 mintes, look up and it's 3 hours later.....

Well.........

Resources no longer need a road linking them to a city for you to gain the benefit, they just need to be developed and within your borders. Units have pretty decent movement so the only real need for roads is trade routes and to get units to the front from within your empire.

I don't really bother garrisoning units in cities any more as they now defend themselves.
