Well found everything for the 360 at the weekend, and three red lights (top right one not lit), wrapped it in a towel with it on for a few mins, turned it off, let it cool and then turned it on and hey presto it was working, well for long enough to download the latest system update, install it, reboot and then it crashed. Did the towel trick again, and it worked for about 5 mins then locked up.

So no 360, and I'm not sure I'm gonna replace it for a while, the only bugger is that I paid for gold sub about 4 months ago.

Forza players be happy, you have one less moving roadblock :)

Bought it in 2007, but they are saying the console isn't registered under my account, so I suggested I register it under the account and then submit it (I have the invoice from Amazon, bought in June 2007), and they said that won't work :/ Also the account is at the old address, and I haven't yet changed the address.

I was hoping I could just say can I send it in, pay a little more and get an Elite back, but they don't even want to fix it :/

Are you ringing Amazon? I think I dealt with MS/Xbox UK direct and they sent out a van to collect it for a fix.

Hmm mine wasnt listed when i did it. you can register the xbox SN online any time under you account. hell iirc they did it for me and this was only a month or so ago. (think mine went boom in July)

I got mine repaired a few months ago, did it all online and all I needed was the serial number. I think the site was service.xbox.com.

They arranged pickup, it went off for a couple of weeks and came back fixed and with a 1 month gold card.

Dead easy :)

Did it online in the end, been having a nightmare getting the UPS label to work, when I get a reply to the issue with the following

We are sorry to hear that you are receiving an error whilst retrieving your shipping labels. To resolve the issue you need to do the following:
� Click on the link that gives you the error message.
� Move your cursor to the address bar of your browser.
� Find %3D sign in the link and replace it with =

... quality, that MS can't even send an e-mail out with the correct link. On the plus side getting it picked up early next week and they will fix it :)

Lucky bugger :) I suppose I should have played mine more and worn it out. It's been fixed once but it's the model that sounds like a 747 taking off.

Mine was exactly the same, Amazingly noisy, I used to wear headphones, not to play quielty but so I could hear the game :)

It's another reason I'm so excited I'm gonna get a new one, I was hoping I'd get an Elite or a call from them and I could pay 'x' amount more and get an Elite back, but hey-ho, no HDMI port for me ... hold on the new one's do have an HDMI port even not the elite one's !!!

First the pc busts now the bloody xbox has a red ring :(

Looks like I need to sort a repair....why couldn't it have been 3rrod, then I could get a free replacement ?

No idea how reliable this is, but a little scour around

Connect your xbox to the plug but nothing else.
Just press the start up button every ten seconds for about 10-15mins.
After about 7mins I got the RROD, and it doesn't go away .

Just sit back, watch some TV and keep pressing the button on and off until you get three flashing red lights.

Others say wrap it in a towel for 30 mins, if it's bust now it can't hurt I guess ?

Ahh the online repair thing was borked, but it seems the error code I get is covered by the 3yr warranty :D I just need to figure out the UPS collection service then I can box it and off it goes for free repair/replacement .

Having just done it all though, box it up (you get it back in the same box), not in the original 360 box, don't include any custom covers/hard disc on the top/cables, don't label it as going to MS or as a 360. Now call the number on the label you printed out, fold the label in half and either cover it in sticky-tape to the box (making sure it doesn't go over something they are going to teat, and then lose the return address so you never get it back), or get a sticky from the UPS man. And then wait :)
