Looks like they have shoe-horned books 2 - 4 into this season, based on the preview clips.

But \o/ should still be good.

Alot of the first season was from book 2 as well, remember a lot of the stuff in later books is happening at the same time as stuff in the earlier books, so obviously things will be a lot different on screen, hopefully nothing from books 6+7 will appear on screen before he finishes writing them for book :p

Can't wait for this :)

If it takes him as long to get six and seven out as it took him to write five it'll be our grandchildren watching it! :p

Found season 2 abit of struggle until that latest episode. Even with a hefty budget for a TV show, it's felt like it's been struggling to get across the epicness of the scale of the story. Seems looks like they blew alot of the budget on these final 2 episodes, can't complain to much though.

Not seen the latest yet, but I agree it does seem a bit rushed and I pity anyone watching who hasn't read the books, as they won't have a clue what is going on.

I'm liking it enough, but I preferred the first season - this season just seemed to throw to many characters at the screen. Not read the books so some of these characters seem alittle unneeded or half baked.
The last episode was really epic though.

Just watched episode 9 (19) - loved it, well done.

The Rains of Castamere at the end was a nice touch I thought.

Looking forward to the last episode of this season2 next week.

All of Martins characters are important in some way or other, even if its just as obstacles or there to die. Some are straightforward and have direct motives, others are a mystery even to themselves i think. The TV series can never do it justice and because of that the story is being reworked some, but its still one of the best things I have seen on TV. Im a bit annoyed at the lack of a chain over the blackwater tho, woulda been amazing

Fantastic stuff, cant wait either Swith. For me, best TV of the year last two series by a long mile.

Most of series 2 seemed to be just exposition and shagging and only got good with the final 3 episodes - I've not read the books but I feel they needed more episodes to tell book 2 properly. Series 1 felt fine over 10 episodes, told it's story and gave the characters enough screen time to develop properly.
Glad to see they are splitting book 3 over two series, hopefully that'll allow things to be fleshed out again.

They're going to need to stretch it out a bit, it took him 6 years to write book 5 and he's still got 2 more to go.....

I read an interview with one of the cast (Bron) who said if they reach a point where they catch up with the novels, the show will continue on it's own route - with the authors blessing.

I really like Bron as a character, both in the books and on screen. Then I saw the same actor in Ripper Street and I really enjoyed that too. Then I realised it was Jerome Flynn from Robson and Jerome, which surprised me. He's gotten rather good.
