Probably not, more likely that you've got a bunch of arse drivers on there or your memory unseated itself a bit when you were fiddling with the inside of your PC, or both :)

I know the graphics driver is the latest one - I got it from the Nvidea website. The rest were on a disc that came with the computer ( a good few years ago). Ill check the ram again. I have always suspected that one of the dimms was dodgy. Could you send me to a site with a mem checker plz?

oh your running ddr2? If you want bud pm me your address i'll send you my old sticks

Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 PC2-6400C5 TwinX (2x2GB)

Think they are the exact same as yours but 4gig worth. Think that's the limit XP can use so they wont stack with your current 2 gig but you may aswell have em (the rest of your stuff is better than my recently replaced stuff. Unless you want a cpu cooler)

Bloody hell u sure mate? I'd offer you summat but am strapped as usual. Will PM ya. I still think one of my sticks of ram is buggered.

If its any help I just took the sides off and had another look inside. My "expert" pal who used to build pcs in 24 minutes took a stick of my ram out to look at before I got the new gear Looking at it today, it seemed a bit loose so I resat it and kicked up the machine. Managed to play PoS for 20 mins befor it bluescreened! Was getting graphics crash 30 seconds in to the game before that. I think the tit didnt put it back properly.

The PSu is FSP Group 450w - 60 apn

Question: ( Ooh I feel like Dwight K.Schrute!) If the ram wasn't seated properly would that have compromised my install of windows? Should I go ahead and reinstall it?

Well Dwight, long answer <insert lengthy analogy about RAM being part of a car but having no effect on what the driver hears on the radio or something>... short answer, no.

oh and dont worry about payment, infact.. if you're strapped i'll include a polaroid of my glans and testes, they always cheer me up.

Think I've used that before. You need to leave it running for a LONG time (a day or so) to properly stress the memory.

Whats the 0x0000000 number on the BSOD? and does it say IRQ_not_equal (or something like that?

Well thanks to the new HD and Emmon's kind donation of some ram that actually works -I aint had the BSOD since last week. I always suspected one of the sticks that PCSpecialist put in was dodgy, the thing has never been that stable since I bought it. But, touch wood, its all gravy now. Everythging seems to be running smoothly, PoE runs like clockwork!

Just want to say thanks to everyone for taking the time to help an old fool who still finds computers a little bit scary!

My current rig was from PC Specialist and I had a dodgy stick of ram too from them, puts me off ordering a new pc from them.
