OOC Cthulhu chat

A thread where we can talk about Cthulhu stuff without invading the turns or making it somehow more complicated.

So to start the ball rolling so far I seem to be the most sane person .... are you afraid yet ? :)

well, its a question of what sanity means really. because tbh, all a high sanity means is that you dont really have a clue whats going on. The moment you start to find stuff out, it goes down. So logically, you being some doddering old bloke that can barely find his house keys, let alone the cthulhu section of the local library, it makes sense that youd be the most sane. :D

If you can keep your head while all around you, people are loosing theirs, you probally dont understand the situation :)

A quick comment. Manusco's comments reflect very much the attitude of people towards those of an ethinic minority in the 1920's. Dont want to get too pc though as it affects the scenario's mood a little. Just be aware as we run through the module...

I understood that from the way they were speaking, I figured though in a Jazz bar that Richard had played in himself, and knowning the horn player he'd have an attitude less like that, especially towards such a good horn player. Perhaps towards others the attitude would be different again though.

Fact of the matter being the the guy getting a good kicking would probably not bother many people either, hopefully soething a little less violent can be found to solve the problem, but then, as Sorontar said, he is certainly looking for a fight.

I think the character 'Richard' should hereby be nominated to take all SAN tests, the lucky blighter got 90 odd! :)

hell yeah, he's blatently going into every room first, and looking at every mysterious book/painting/etc before the rest of us :D
(i assume us 2 lost a lot in the army brutus)

Depends on what we see ;)

On a side note I think it might be worth posting OOC stuff here and not in the posts as myself and Zeus have done, this way questions get answered without having to messy up the posts as has happened a little with the present thread, thats what this thread is meant for anyway....

Edited for hindsight.....

SAN .. well since your max san is 99 - Cthulhu Mythos even those of you with pants san can raise it ... .eventually ;-)

OOC ... best here if its standard game questions.

pfft, how often does sanity go up though? in my experience, 1d6 at the end of an adventure. thats enough to offset like 1 room :p

and i'm going to remove my ooc comments from the story thread once we're finsihed with a turn, i reckon.

Like I said depends on what you see, I had a character who I played for about 2 years who started with a SAN of 31 and ended up with a SAN of 83, how? Well in that 1 room it sometimes helps to be looking the other way, I suppose he was lucky but don't forget that you can also rack some up through that 1D6, its not much but if you keep adding it there comes a point when it matters.

That was like saying a D6 hit points every level doesn't matter almost! :p

no, its more like saying that being healed for a grand total of 1d6 per level doesnt matter :p

Their are 3 easy ways to raise SAN, but used in combation

Have 0% in spotten hidden
Have 0% is libray Use
and speak no langauges other then English

and you shall have a normal life....

A question to Zed or anyone what may know the answer what is this Skill Checks things in the character stats section ?

I think it's for Zed to list things we have succeeded at?

I've seen this in other games and I don't know the exact mechanics but I think it's used for advancement of skills at level up.

Something along the lines of

If you use (or perhaps critical pass) a skill during play you tick the skill. Then upon level up you get to roll against that skill (roll over skill so the higher the skill the harder to advance) to see if it goes up. Then you either add a fixed amount to the skill although I suspect its a 1d6 you add on.

Okay someone make me look an arse and fill in with the correct procedure and meaning :D

Arse! Actually you are correct. Its excatly as described except the skills increases by D10.
