ive been using bound bow as with the right perks you auto get souls ..

best bow ive found is an imperial bow - nothing on it , with base damage of 30. But im only 23 currently

get your blacksmithing skill up to 100 (it very easy to do) then you can make daedric stuff
start going round alchemy shops to find hearts to buy ( semi rare spawn so you need to keep on checking) also look out for blacksmithing pots while at the shops

the bow i made does 110 dmg

The thieves guild questline eventually gives you the Nightingale bow, but it's stats depend on levels. At mid 20's it's 48 damage +15electric+15Frost.
I've got a Glass bow with 48 damage in my inventory i plan to 'upgrade' at a craft bench that should push it to 56ish then add the +20 frost enchant.

(This is all without perks in enchanting / smthing as they are hax).

I think a lot of the items you find scale with your level so you have to keep upgrading. I'm using an ebony bow that's doing around 25 damage atm.

This is what I'm using atm. It was a bog standard ebony bow which I upgraded and enchanted. Seems to do the job at lvl 28 :)

Using a superior Glass bow myself which is 54 dmg. Got the enchant for filling soul stones on it and its a huge money maker when lvling crafting. Make tons of iron daggers enchant them and sell them. You get skill gains for smithing and enchanting and make cash.

I am only 26ish and 1 shotting trolls from stealth.

Bound bow is as good as the ebony at 26 (was doing 80 damage with it last i checked)

Your opinion is worthless....
Given up for the mo, hit 24 now got a frost dragon hounding me and I can't do squat to him lol, being a duel wielding fighter type isn't helpful and my magic isn't high enough, tempted to try a new class any recommendations?

Dragons are a bitch. GEnerally I drop an atronach down and it gets the beasts attention. Then once it comes in and you can get it to land just spank it to death. Its odd being kited though by a PVE creature...

Re class: could try a bow/thief/mage....

Once you've got a hit on them they tend to come back to you (after they've murdered everything else in the immediate vacinity).

I tend to pop down a fire atro, summon bow and plink away all the while looking for a suitably large rock to hide behind.

Do you have to do the Companions werewolf/circle quest to progress their quests?
Stopped the companions quests there after being invited to meet the werewolfs under the forge.

Not too interested in being a werewolf, but I have to to progress I suppose I might need to do it? Do you get rid of the lycanthropy eventually?

i was werewolf. i think i tried it once then never bothered changing. You occasionally get comments about having fur in your ears.

Just run through the quests sequentially and you will get the chance to cure yourself at the very end of the arc.

Getting this for Xmas like Bertyr, and really looking forward to it, but slightly concerned stealth/bow/magic is sounding almost mandatory, is a sword/board (I guess also some magic) be impossible ? I tend to play these games as a good guy as being a thief always seems overpowered and I end up with too much money and that makes me bored, I guess it's the balance of having a challenge but not feeling like I'm playing Demons Souls ;)

And was talking to my brother yesterday about this and he said how great it was that you could see a mountain in the distance and actually then walk there, I then had him playing Fallout 3 for a couple of hours and he agreed with me that while that sounds "amazing" the reality of that can be less "fun"

All styles of play are viable. If anything, Smithing + Sword + heavy armour is pretty overpowered, and less interesting than ninjaing as a whole as you have less 'fun stuff' to do rather than mining an area with runes, assassinating people with a bow then slitting their throats once they blunder near you.

nb: this technique doesn't work against elder dragons. Fffffuuuuuuuuuu
