Post builds here ....

Zed

Rogue Chimp
Since a couple of people asked me about my build...

Zedania - Cleric of Cyre, MAiden of War.

Str 16
Dex 12
Con 10
Int 8
Wis 16
Cha 10

Feats:
Mental toughness (+spell points)
Extend Spell

A word on extend spell. It costs 1.5X to cast a spell with duration, the duration doubles. Spells like Bless last longer with a lower cost. It makes sense to me ... (if i cast bless twice for a totaly of 2 mins ill save 5 spell points casting it extended)

Cathral

wolf in sheeps clothing
Blaidd is now created

str 12
dex 18
con 10
int 14
wis 10
char 10

Took the feat that gices +3 to search and spot (dont remember the name).

I intend going warrior next lvl and getting the weapon finesse feat then rogue lvl 3 and the 2 weapon fighting feat.

I waited until lvl 4 for warrior in beta and couldnt hit very well unless with a bow and this will also give me a small hp boost for the low lvls as well as access to shields and most weapons.

Do you have to set up your character in a non default way at the start? i.e. does it assume you've spent many a year rat killing with your half elf lawful neutral bum fondler round at your mates for 10 years? :)

I started a sorc and went with the default settings and I don't even having any bastarding offensive spells.

Sorc's by default have 2 spells
Burning Hands - Front facing, cone, flame
Mage Armour - Adds to AC

Burning hands is very offensive and even without any bonus's you should be able to get up to I think 8 damage on it.

What 2 spells did you start with though ? maybe it messed up

those sound like them, but the hands one was going on about doing something with undead..... mentioned nothing about flames.

think i might reroll tieger. not sure i like the whole paladin thing. they *seem* to be rather weak, combat wise... are they really, or is it just my imagination? maybe i'm just expecting too much of it. so, to people that know much more about such things than i do (ie. most of you), do pallys make good combat types, or will i eventually be reduced to a support class that watches the fighters have all the fun?

Hmm that sounds more like the frozen grasp (or something like that) which I know does specifically mention about undead in it's description.

Find out what the exact spell name is and we can all have a look, in Beta though every character was default and always seemed to work well, although I didn't try every possible choice.

I'll also read up on the spells with "undead" in them, it may be the spell you have will be effective enough.

Not that this DDO we need all classes or anything else but was suprised to see not one person was a bard as yet, I must say the one I tried in beta I wasn't impressed with, not good at combat and not good at casting but I figured I was missing something rather than it actually being a problem with the class.

its just not a class that really interests me. i might give it a go at some point. whats the idea with it? that you sit around playing music and buffing people, occasionally stabbing people?

Git

Your opinion is worthless....
looking for a Bard template if anyone has a clue about them, on top of this is Elf the race for this class ? i fancied an Elf or even another short ass like Halfling

Zed

Rogue Chimp
Elf Bard.

Without having the program here Id look at: (try to aim for these figures, anything over increase Str a bit)

Str 12
Dex 16 (14)
Con 10 (12)
Int 10
Wis 10
Cha 16

Feat: This is a tricky one. You can go a couple of ways - Elves gain proficiency in Longbows as standard. So Point blank shot - will give you a +1 to attack and damage at short range.

Or if you want to improve your casting - Mental Toughness.

Spell selection: Personally Id choose Cure light wounds as my first level spell. Its going to be a slog to get to 2nd level and you would need to group a lot. At lvl 2 Id slot in a level of Sorceror and you will end up with something like 280 spell points and 3 spells - CLW, + 2 offensive spells.

Mithril Chain Shirt (hint hint Git) would then sit well on this character reducing the spell failure suffered.

From there its Bard pretty much all the way baby! or you could mix Bard / Sorc for some offensive fun (5/5 gives you a fireball and lightning ball to play with)

You need to keep Perform Maxed. And enhancements would improve Spell points, Dex and Songs.

hint hint ! yes i happen to have gotten some Elf chain already :) mithril as well which is nice..

Belegris: Semi-Dex Fighter (Whirling Death Dealer)

Based on obtained Mithral Full Plate to make the most of his Dex and a funky Falchion so that he is criticalling on 15-20 by level 8.

May not be the best build in the world and it does depend a lot on me being able to remember to tumble around like a fool but we'll see how it goes :D

Zed,

I based my Halfling Rogue on the template you mentioned earlier (below). It's for a static group of ex PnPers for a once a week run with 2 wizards, Bard, Cleric and heavy fighter. With that in mind I was thinking that a pure Rogue was the way to go, with the focus on rogue skills (sneak.spot.disable etc) primarily as I guess the group has plently of DPS already.

Any suggestions where to go from Lvl 4? And any general advice (there's so much conflicting stuff on the official forums I've given up!!!). Currently using pierce weapons (bloodletter dagger and reptile bane short word) primarily. Took the 4ac bracers from water works and am using robes with effects rather than armour at the moment as I can't afford/find anything with more than 4ac without penalties.

I've RP lots in the past but mainly on the TnT system so i'm quite aware it could be very easy for me to screm my rogue up if i'm not carefull as i'm not that familiar with DnD

Ta :)

It depends on the role you want to play.

Skill Focus: Disable (or open lock etc) can give you a nice boost.

Look at greater two weapon fighter when you get higher, maybe two weapon defence as well. Dodge might be useful then get yourself a robe of Axeblock or spear block or something similar (one that gives you DR to slashing weapons - they are a tad broken but can still help)

You could munchkin a touch. Throw in 2 levels of fighter - get Dodge, mobility as your fighter feats, then at lvl 6 grab Spring attack. this will allow you to move about and still fight - without suffering any penalties to fight. This would be a combat based Rogue.
