Macro is the organisation of your overall strategy - it's making sure that you have enough resources in place, have structures where you need them, have properly dispersed bases etc.

Micro is the zoomed in management of individual units and groups. Moving them around to avoid detection devices, pulling damaged units out of combat before they die, optimal target selection for different units in a group and so forth.

my limited understanding of such things suggests that a lot of people feel that SC2 is too much macro, not enough micro - primarily due to the lack of hard counters. not sure if thats actually true though, or just the current popular whine :p

popular whine is that terran are OP.

I'd say its true, i played a game about 2 hours ago, i had to macro my tits off to get muta's, the guy had half my workers, and was building marines and medics (nothing else), and i really had to macro 2 queens, get enough zerglings to distract the stream of marines, and sneak the muta's into the mineral line.

Its possible to win against terran, but you have to work twice (if not more) hard to get there. I'm not even going to mention thor/siege combo's >.<

been watching replays loads recently and Day9s dailys but wow... huge amazing omg.. genius stuff. Those two were incredible.

By the way Art, props staying Zerg.. my only choice too :)

yeah i'm still zerg, its hard, but meh, up's and down's, just annoying, last terran i played was very very average, and i still had to macro like a nutter just to beat his 2 barracks build, zerglings to keep him occupied, didn't want to go roach incase he went for marauder (very likely), so tech'ed up as fast as i could to muta's, which while attacking meant i had to do a new hatchery with 2 gas and transfer half my workers over, etc.

All that to just beat a 1 base 2 barracks assault from terran, ah well, you get a bigger sense of achievement hehe.

No haven't bought it yet.. gonna let work die down a bit so i can dedicate proper time to it. I'll let you know when i do though matey

yesssssssss!

After a good 4 run losing streak, I've managed to learn to beat terran ocassionally now. its helpful... the last 10 games, 1 zerg, 1 protoss, 8 terran. All built marauders and marines. meh.

let me dust off untill tonight, i seem to be a bit poo past the 7 minute mark, forgetting to scout and not using mah sexeh Queens. Map control seems good though, i love how the AI says "gg" i lol'd.

Ok brought the headset out of retirement and managed to knife down the middle the wires so i can connect mic input into comp and headphone input into speakers (the missus watches casualty and mistresses via iplayer on the comp so need the speakers up)

Kind of went overboard having it to play from 8am and after more game input than my brains had for err.. months, i foolishly over did the haribo and coffee i was using to stay sharp and crashed.. awaking aound midnight so sorry we didnt get any games in Art :)

Anyway got one of these sig things so if you wanna add me feel free

if arts about tonight we'll test it tone. I must admit on the main screen there seems to be a volume rating next to your picture, at least i think it is as it has a mute below it. Haven't managed to get that to change from empty yet

i've not tried it yet tbh, i'll probably use it up if i get a game with Emmon and i'll let you know.

Interested to see how it goes, as I use a seperate sound card for my mic as a pose to my sound output (same as Emmon). I'll reply to your thread if I have any success :)

Do we still have a TS server? Otherwise I'll probably have to Skype it up :( meh
