Teh Spurs sign Edgar Davids

Great news, just what we needed tbh - someone in midfield with experience.

As Jol says, "We have a young squad with an average age of 23 and I believe Edgar will come in and lead by example."

He should help us through the inevitable rough patches.

Now all we need to do is get Keano on a new contract & I'll be happy :)

Hehe i hate it when footballers are described as old at 32, im 32 and i still watch spongebob squarepants, I have however recently bought my first pair of sandals.

It does smack a little to me of a player close to the end of his playing career making a last chunk of cash and playing somewhere that he can be one of the better players without exerting himself to much :)

England is the new Japan! ^_^

hehe, although the EPL isn't usually considered to be a nice slow non-physical league :)

Still, at the end of a long match-day, he'll be able to sit round the fire at the Lane and gather the kids close. "When I were a lad, men were men. We didn't have fancy sports psychologists tellin' us to call failure 'deferred success'. If we went down to five defeats on the trot, we went and 'ad our 'air permed." To which Routledge and Lennon will reply, "Piss off, grandad!" before slouching off to the corner flag to sniff glue.

Davids (reportably) has a habit of causing trouble in teams both international and club..

No doubt he is a great player, just hope for spurs fans and the premiership that reports are wrong!

Lol he wants to stay for a Spanish passport, fair reason really.

Seriously, he's not signed yet has he?

I'm 32 as well and I don't watch Spongebob Squarepants :D

TBH you'd probably struggle to understand it, it's more intellectual that the normal stuff you watch.

PS why is no one signing Owen?

Stupid is as stupid does
I don't know. Its weird. Arsene Wenger said he doesn't need a striker. Well, last time I looked he wanted to sign Baptista and, well, I do beleive he's a striker.

I think Man U will go in for him. I'm amazed Chelsea aren't interested. The guy is a proven Premiership goalscorer.... odd.

Think your more likely to see the boy Linekar drop the crisps ads and put a pair of boots on for his home town again tbh.

That would be good, Lineker and Owen up front, Shilton in Goal and a bunch of other famous Leicester players like erm the defender, oh and Martin O'neil back to manage.

As I said when he left, Owen is not in the same class as an Henry or a Shearer. His main asset was pace, which he has lost a good deal of through a series of crippling injuries and operations. Just a few years ago the injuries he has had would have ended his career. They have certainly cost him a good deal of his pace.

As for being a proven Prem scorer his goal scoring record is not as impressive as it looks. He scores in patches and will often boost his season tally with 4 or 5 against a crap side. He has never scored 20 in a season, even when he was the only outlet LFC had. His season before last he scored 11 in the season, 4 of which were against a crap side.

A good player certainly, but his injuries have cost him big time. He doesnt contribute as much to team play outside of scoring as top strikers should.

Owens got a better international goalscoring record than Henry, and the France national team has had the edge over Englands in term of quality over the past few years. Maybe it's just because the Liverpool team Owen played in was pretty unspectacular in terms of providing strikers opertunities unlike the Arsenal team Wenger has put together (and built around) for Henry. Owens goals per minutes played at Madrid is higher than any of there other strikers I read as well - and they have some pretty classy 'others'.

Absolutely not true.

In his last season LFC had more shots on goal than any other Prem team; Owen had by far the most chances and squandered them. The year before that was similar and Owen scored ony 11 goals in the whole season, 4 of them in one game against a very poor side.

I agree Henry has always been incredibly poor in Internationals and incredible for his team, while Owen has always had good games for England.

As a long time Spurs fan I was happy with this news coz he can play outstandin footie, but sadly he'll be playin for Spurs - yes we had a not to bad season last year but this is *Spurs* and we'll finish between 7th and 12th after a up and down season - maybe a good run in one of the cups thats it for us in 2005 - 2006.

Cheers
