Turn 39.2 (area 11) Combat Round 2

Zed

Rogue Chimp
Jial pauses, holding his actions, awaiting to see whether anything comes out of the whirlwind.

Aceed, from his vantage point, pulls out the ring to check its still in his presence, then carefully he stows it again, removing his weapon ready for any action.

Likewise Calgula, for the moment stays at the back of the room, he too wondering what might come out of the winds. He grips his mace in his hand as he looks somewhat bored towards the melee.

Dee blinks and then gestures, although nothing can be seen or heard through the whirling winds he begins the make sounds emanate from the doorway on the other side of the pit. With care he backs away 10 feet. [OOC can only do 1 or the other each round]

Knok launches an arrow into the whirlwind. As it enters the maelstrom, the arrow is sent spinning upwards into the ceiling of the room. Nothing seems to happen to the wind.

Thak grunts and pushes himself through the wind. He takes several steps forwards and then whoosh, he is plucked off his feet by the force of the air and slammed bodily into the ceiling and then into the floor., then he is picked up and spun round and round the twisting winds (OOPS - 7 Dam)

Belwar, seeing he cannot cast on Thak, then watching as the winds picks the half orc up like parchment backs away 10 feet.

Risach turns, moving away from the winds. He passes the Gnome and grabs him by the arm. "Come little one" he yells above the noise of the winds. Dee struggles and wiggles out the paladins grasp, shrugging Risach moves back behind the gnome, hoping to shield him from the maelstrom.

Bamoin watches with some amusement at the scene before him, his glance flicks from the northern door to the corridor ensuring nothing can sneak upon the group.

The wind suddenly moves westward along the passage with incredible speed. It engulfs Dee (again) this time the gnome manages to break free from the force of the wind and hold his ground. Risach too feels his feet slip as the winds reach out to grab him. The paladin fails to keep his balance and is slammed against the southern wall, (13 Dam), he manages to claw onto the wall to avoid being picked up bodily ducking as Thak swirls past him, still trapped in the winds, the corridor is plunged into darkness however as the lantern is ripped out of Risachs hads and dashed against the ceiling. Belwar, in wolf form fares somewhat better, flattening himself against the floor and trying to make himself as heavy as possible. Knok, next in the path of the winds succeeds in skipping out of the way. Aceed too skips out of the way of the oncoming winds and finally, Atak gets caught in the ensuing maelstrom (16 Dam), he is picked up and slammed bodily into the pedastal the winds continue to twist and swirl in the room. Jial watches as the winds approch him.....

[OOC - Oops, sorry Zed, didn't know I was doing too much in one round :/]

Dee will basically keep an eye (or ear) out for the whirlwind, but keep his illusions up by the door. If nothing else he wants to see if something else comes out of the pit.

When Dee next see's Thak he'll make a point of apologising for suggesting trying to move through the whirlwind, his eyes obvisouly haven't quite recovered.

Aceed will try and hide in a shadow (if there is one) and will try and get past to the pit area if a chance opens. I'm assuming this is controlled by someone and they may not have dark vision.

[/ooc I suggest that someone is controlling this wind (they don't normally move like that :p Perhaps belwar could move back to the pit room and spot the controller with his animal instinct, if not I'll try and have a look around too if I can get there ?]

Ps does "removing his weapon ready for any action." mean that my weapon is out or not ? if not then I'll ready just my primary.

pps if that thing hits the ooze from the golum then there may be acid stuff flyng about I suggest people don't stay too near it.

[OOC - Not sure how much I can do while keeping the illusion up but given the chance I'd like to move Dee toward the NE corner of the pit room (by the north door). And have the illusion move closer towards the pit.

#2 Could you give me an idea on how difficult Dee thinks it would be to leap into the pit, and grabbing the chains which are hanging down into it. If I don't have slow fall 30" though ignore that totally, Dee wouldn't even consider it :)]

Kegs

With the Benedictine monks.
Thak will shake off the hurts and try and get to the pit where his darkvision will hopefully let him see his foe and DESTROY IT for hurting him. (OOC: If any of the group think otherwise say so and i will stay and try and distract the wind.)

A good plan my friend he grins at Dee, i will try again now.

EDIT: If he manages to get out of the whirlwind that is :p

Jial, seeing the wind approaching, runs south towards bamoin to avoid it. Then once its past his previous position, he'll try and go down the corridor it came out of, in case Thak needs a hand. if it catches him anywa, he'll instead try and flatten himself against the floor, so as not to let it pick him up.

Arak grimaces in pain at being slammed against the wall, and then casts a spell that will help him see whatever is in the pit, or another spell to protect Thak from further attack.

[/ooc Dee I have climbing and jumping, and will contemplate jumping over the pit or climbing down it when I get round there. Providing someone can guess where this beign generated from. I also have a rope if the chains are pretty rusted so we could be able to it off at the top and climb down if the chains are really rusty but don't fancy trying it if we're in combat or going to be tossed down the pit.]

Medivac

Doggin' at a spot near you
Bamoin seeing everyone leaving the room , backs off to the far southern corner near the door, away from the Wirlwind.

Shouts for Everyone to move away from the Wirlwind then digs out his Alchemist`s fire ,then cassualy throws it into the middle of the wirlwind, then Dives out of the room via the south door .

[OOC] he will only throw the Alchemist`s fire if everyone is out of "range" of the blast .

[Actions: Is ther any way to get Thak out of the whirlwind? Using a combination of rope, magic, and ignorance of teh elements?
I have a bd feeling it could be attempting to put Thak on the pedastel & turn him into a guardian Golem. That would suck, but then at least we get to kick his ass. :D]

[ooc my character would probably continue to defend him though since I'd want to use magic to turn him back into Thak, so you'd have an irate mage AND guardian golem on your hands :p ]

(ooc: come on! he might retain some of his personality, you never know :p surely its worth the experiment at least? i it works well, we could all turn ourselves into golums - think how cool we'd look walking through town then :p)

(ooc: Dammit, thought I was late, but all I can say after reading this all is a big loud 'LOL!' :D)

Belwar leaps to the edge of the pit, peering down, and IF he sees an enemy or anything like it, he'll start yapping and dancing (ooc: Call Lightning, mind there's a maelstorm nearby. :p Dunno if it affects in this case but check it anyway. ;)). ELSE he just casts endurance on himself.

Kaers

(ooc: Erm, I'm off to a business conference in Sweden next, so I'll be away for quite a long time. General guidelines for Belwar is to attack the source of the maelstorm, i.e. whoever threw that bottle in the first place. As attack method I'll be using lightning bolts from the Call Lightning spell, or if that fails for some reason, simply this procedure: Back away, Endurance on himself, Greater Magic Fang on himself, Charge into close combat. I'll not go and heal anyone except Caligula, 'cos he's my friend at the present moment. Questions, Zed? Mail meh. :p)

OOC DM Stuff:

Aceed: Has a weapon in hand. If he attempts to move past the wind he may end up like thak. The wind has a 10ft radius.

Dee: Has slow fall 30ft - it is probably a DC 20 jump or tumble check to jump onto the chains. Until someone pokes a head down the pit you have no idea how deep it is.
Dee can move and keep the illusion going. If you do anything strenous or are hit you will need to make a concentration check to keep it up.

Thak: Is indeed spinning about in the whirlwind. So he cant do a lot, unless it dumps him out of the wind.

Remember there is currently no light source, so all humans / those without somekind of lowlight vision are blind ie Risach and Caligula.

I have no clear action from Risach, Caligula will continue to cower in the corner ;-) Jial may move past the winds but again, he could potentially get caught in the violent Maelstrom that is swirling around.

Turn tomorrow AM/Lunch so you have a chance to change actions etc based on the above info.
