In no particular Order:
Luther
The following Morning, before heading out to the Funeral home and meeting up with those who said they would go, Luther picks up and casually reads through the morning newspaper.
He is interested in the article focusing on Manusco's shooting, it tells little other than he owned a small time accounting firm. That the wound, acccording to police sources should have been fatal yet in his indomitable way he managed to stagger out to seek aid, only to be mown down, ironically it seems, by the very aid he sought.
Linked to this is another article claiming that the Mayor had ordered the padlocking of the Blue Heaven Ballroom, offering thanks that such a cesspool of corruption, vice and crime had been closed. The Manager of the club, one Mr Roland Marlow would be arraigned later that day.
A Roger Daniels is quotes and photographed. He states clearly that the club was breaking the prohibition and serving alcohol. He works for the Goverment according to the caption.
Jonathan
Arriving at the office Jonathan immediately realises something is amiss. The client filing cabinet has been forced open, the lock broken, and all the files labelled 'B' missing.
Rummaging around further he discovers a scrap of paper in the waste paper basket. It appears to be a note:
Mister M, you shld meet me tonite at Blue Heavin for a meaningful discusn on youre helth and safety. J
There is little else to be found, hearing a commotion outside Jonathan manages to leave before the police spot him and force him to ask even more difficult questions.
Frank
Frank believes a visit to the funeral home, around the time the card suggests would be a good career move. Although before hand he gets in an early start. The doctors and others who know confirm that the gun shot wound should have been fatal, on account he appears to be missing almost half the volume of his brain mass.
On top of that, bruising and broken bones above the waist suggest that he was trampled and stamped upon around the time of his death. A broken neck sustained at that point would also have been fatal. The car crash broken his spine and damaged organs. He definately would have died at that point. However the Coroner clearly says no way could he have moved himself.
Heading to the Apartment of Manusco before going on to the Funeral home turns up a scrapbook of clippings about Archie the Boss Bonato, dating over the last 18months. He savings passbook shows monthly deposits of $1000 made over the same period.
Alex
Alex quickly comes to the same conclusion as the coroner. The wound should have been fatal. In fact he had seen a number of these during his military career and none of them had managed to get themselves up, go down stairs and head out into the street. Some had twitched a few times before dieing but that was assumed to be a mechanical reaction not a deliberate one.
Either the wound wasnt as bad as people were saying, and further damage was caused in the accident with the car or, well, he couldnt fathom out what else it could have been.
[OOC assumption here, Alex hasnt ever had a need to explore the Occult]
Jacques
The university is quiet in the early morning. Access to the 'forbidden' section (as its known, in reality you need special permission from any one of the senior lecturers, Jacques included) was easy enough for Jacques and soon he found himself pouring over various tomes.
A couple of things spring to mind. An ancient Pagan text speaks of rituals for bringing back the dead although in the time allotted he is unable to study this in depth. He does though scribble down the book and page reference.
Another book, this one on Afro Carribean 'Voodoo' talks of chicken heads being used in various spells and magicks. Jacques remembers a comment made about the Drummer keeping one in his drum. Again time doesnt permit him lengthy research but he is able to scribble down book and page references.
Music is an interesting subject. Music, chanting and dancing can be tied to any number of supposed magick spells or rituals, from fertility through to Death. The pagan book speaks of song or chant (hard to tell on a quick glance) linking to ressurection or other spells dealing with life after death. But in all of it, after the couple of hours spent reading he is sure what he saw could be linked to occult practise of some kind.
