If you'd have been paying attention you'd have been able to buy my copy off e-bay :)

For reference somehow it sold for 7.50, while Full Spectrum Warrior sold for only 0.55, nutters

... (though that could be an issue with Vista rather than the PS3)

Certainly is, the media sharing service bombs out repeatedly from vista, same for an xbox also as it happens, but then again we can always use Zune for the xbox, afaik M$haft have not bothered to fix it yet, I also suspect its to stop people streaming content to the Xbox that uses codecs the Xbox cant handle.

Funnily enough it works perfectly from XP though ...

Edit: 360 ftw!

From not being that fussed about upcoming current gen games there's now too many good ones to play.

Gears 2
Motorstorm Pacific Rift (Suprisingly)
Left 4 Dead
Valkyria Chronicles
LBP
Disaster: Day of Crisis
Dead Space

All getting great reports over on the NTSC-uk forums and Resistance 2 got a great review at Eurogamer. Haven't quite finished Fable II yet for gods sake!!

On the last chapter of Gears 2, its a testament to how good it is that someone like me that rarely finishes a game has played this nearly to completion in 2 days.. its a lot longer than Gears 1 as well.

Left 4 dead is probably my next purchase, everything else can wait for pre owned.

There will be a Left 4 Dead demo on the marketplace tomorrow for anyone who wants to try it before buying it.

Loving Gears 2. The campaign is more of the same which is fine, but the Horde mode is easily the best addition to the game.

I'm becoming less excited by L4D the more I see. It just looks too easy and console-y.
The graphics look fine, but it just lacks the atmosphere of the amateur mod Zombie Panic. There you were actually scared of zombies, in L4D you have far too much ammo, the zombies are too weak, you can kick their arse in melee, and if you die, a teammate can bring you back to life just by pressing a button.
Clearly aimed at the console player. They don't like hard games. :D
I'll probably still get it, but /shrug

The revive takes time and I think alerts the zombies, the amount of zombies I thought can be tweaked, the ammo situation from everything I'd read said you needed to be careful with it, if you skipped for example a safe room you'd be in real trouble.

I love the idea of L4D, the problem I'm having is that I think to really enjoy it you need 4 people you know to play it with, and with my limited playtimes the chance of that happening would I fear be really really slim :( Which is a huge shame as because of that I'm not going to get it as I think getting it to play alone or with random people you getting a really gimped experience.

That and I'm having too much fun in LBP, built my first vehicle this morning after alot of difficulty, still not 100% sure I did it right but was a great feeling jumping onto it and it rumbling along the floor :)

l4d coming to ps3, or just pc/360? a quick look on teh intarwebz shows various conflicting reports, so figured i'd ask here..

It takes about 5 seconds to revive someone. Oh noes. :p
Kinda ruins the fear of death. They should start you off with a larger team, then when you're picked off, you join the zombie team. It works really well in other games. This just stinks of catering to the lowest denominator.
And no, it doesn't seem to alert the zombies, and even if it did, *shrug*

You have infinite ammo, nuff said. ;)
I doubt they're going to replicate the same feeling as 3 guys on low health hiding in a cupboard, armed with an empty pistol, a frying pan and an iron, while the horde hunts them down.

It's just a different game. :(

Er, that's the same situation as with any multiplayer game. Either get more friends, or suck it up and play with people you don't know. :)
It's only a FPS, if you meet someone who annoys you, quit and join a different game.

They may do a Bioshock and release a PS3 version quite abit later if the game proves popular enough, however I don't think there is a version currently in development.

I wouldn't touch the PS3 version, if a PS3 isn't in the initial release or getting some proper loving it's just going to be a poor port done badly and rushed to cash in. Personally I'm gonna stick with PS3 exclusives or where PS3 is the main dev platform for all PS3 games from now on.

And infinate ammo ? when did that change happen, everything I'd read up till now has limited ammo and healing unless you count the crappy pop-gun, which most FPS's have an unlimited ammo shit gun to make crap people feel useful as they gently pepper the enemy.

And it's not the same situation with other games, all 2 player games are much easier to organise, MMO's you just expect a mess, this is 4 players which does make it I think more complicated to organise. But I'll make a post and see if enough CUK'ers will be getting it on 360 over PC

It's always had infinite ammo. And yes, I'm refering to the automatic pistol. They're still perfectly capable of killing zombies though, especially if you're dual-wielding.
Yes, you can do more damage with bigger guns, but you never panic about running out of ammo in Left 4 Dead.

Personally, I see L4D as being in the Serious Sam genre. Lots of guns, lots of ammo, lots of health, and killing lots and lots of bad guys.
Sure, zombies are supposed to have high numbers, and sure, it's likely to be hard on max difficulty, but sneaking around to avoid the horde because you've got no ammo is an exhiting gaming experience that L4D isn't going to manage IMO.

And okay, it might be different for 2-player console kiddy-games :D
But in the real man's world of FPS gaming, you often have to interact with strangers. Some of them may even say mean words, you'll just have to deal with it. ;)
Some of us even like meeting new people. Hell, I'm disappointed that it's only 4 people in your party. I wonder how many people can play as zombies...

Fine, you run around with the pistol, I'll pick up all the good ammo and see who gets over-run by the zombie horde first :)

Will wait and see until I play the demo, but I don't see what you're talking about as being that big an issue, if I wanted the game I'm playing for fun to be difficult I'd play it on a harder setting, if I want it so difficult I have to buy a new video card just to play it I'd get it on PC ;)

And as for mean words, you've obviously never played on the 360 online and heard what the general people say, hence why I think you'd be lessening the experience (not totally destroying it) but not playing it with real friends (you remember what real friends are right ? :D)

P.S Please note this is the console forum, so you're in my world now ! ;)

It doesn't look as though that is what it is trying to achieve though.

From the gameplay videos I have watched it seems to basically consist of some intense firefights in enclosed spaces with out and out zombathons thrown in now and again for thrills. Its a no brainer and I don't think sneaking around much was ever on the cards.

I also don't see why you need more than 4 players. Dawn of the Dead managed quite well with just the 4 players. :)

The things I'm worried about are longevity as it seems as though it may get pretty old very quickly unless there are some interesting game modes. Also in the bigger zombie fights I've watched the humans seem to take a real beating before dying. Hopefully you can change a lot of the parameters like damage you can take etc to up the tension value.

A better comparison would be I take the two pistols, and you take the golf club, and see who craps their pants first. ;)
Probably still be me though...

And no, I haven't played online on an XBox, but more importantly, you haven't played Zombie Panic, which is what I'm comparing L4D to.

I'm saying Valve's made a less appealing game than if they'd stuck closer to the ZP gamestyle, presumably to appeal to the mass market.
I'm not saying you're not allowed to enjoy L4D, just that I'm disappointed.

Btw, I'm posting this with a PC which counteracts your home territory claim.
Haharr.

Exactly. If ZP was made with Valve's production values, I'd play that for months happily. Totally agree with the damage, that's my main gripe with it.
You can knock back zombies in an arc with your melee attack, and you can even reload while spamming it (though it looks likely that this will be changed). I know we're talking about zombies here, but that's just not realistic. :D

In the game that I refuse to mention anymore as I already sound like a rabid fanboi, if a zombie gets close to you you're fairly fucked, and they've got a good chance of killing you if they get the jump on you. This makes it much more atmospheric and scary, which increases longevity.
