I'd love to hear how that works out if you tried it out Zeus, I'm not sure you'd get as far as 60 with the fact you can only complete an instance once and not loot previously looted areas if you fail. Although it'll probably be more a case of the casters carrying the mellee for most of that ride, which might not be much fun for the melee people (as the casters would be less affected by the gear loss)

I would think a beastmaster hunter is probably the least gear dependant class :)

A think you'd be fine till you get to WotLK dungeons (or heroics in BC if your counting those?)

Interesting stuff from the 3.2 patch notes.

- Character name auto-completion for the chat frame, pop-ups, and mail interface can be enabled through an interface option in the Development settings.

- Item Comparisons: Holding the shift key while hovering over an item will now display the stat differences with the item currently equipped in the relevant slot.

- Quest creatures and objects will now show on the player's world map.

- The quest log is now double-paned for more easily viewing quest information.

FUK YEAH I DON@T USE ADDONS YEAH !

They aren't addons if they are inplimented into the game :p
Anyway most of that stuff is just rubbish. One of the first things that I hated in Warhammer was the way the game basically held your hand in the quests, telling you where to goto - awful design for players who don't want to read the quest text or immerse themselves in the game, just race to the end. The fact Blizzard is heading down that route is pretty worrying.

You know what i'm amazed the way Blizzard have been treating the old content they haven't included a system where you can just 'create' a level 80 character. Charging money like the 'server swap' or 'character name change' and probably restict it to players who have at least one level 80 already - you know i think they'd make a ton of cash by doing that, because so many players hate levelling.

also in those notes but hidden slightly:

- 2 weeks after 3.2, all level 80 characters will be the same gear level. it wont matter if you've been playing the last 6 months, or just shelved your char when you hit 80 in december - with the new badge changes, you too can get ulduar gear - but not from raiding! just from spending a few hours doing 5man heroics!

- warriors get a massive buff, which is exactly what every warrior has been asking for for months!
Armored to the Teeth: This talent now provides 1/2/3 attack power per 108 armor, up from per 180 armor. - fuck yes, an extra 250ap to prot warriors, 150ap to dps warriors! we're now perfect. the epitome of class design. (yes, thats the only warrior change. what, you wanted the classes glaring deficiences that you've been talking about for months addressed? a rage system that doesnt mean we have to nerf you hideously every 6 months? nah, we've got pallys to buff.)

- new argent tournament raid! "you have defeated the old god of death, and the titan purifier! now go fight an enemy even tougher - some random people/things you've never heard of in a collosseum that only just got built!". players of all classes will enjoy fighting 'mutated giant jormungar worm' and 'random alliance/horde hero you've never heard of, and who wasnt around when ulduar happened, but is suddenly the greatest hero the alliance/horde have ever seen'.

-proffesions upgraded! A jewelcrafter automatically gets upgraded dragonseyes (so they can concentrate on ripping everyone off on the epic gems they can get very cheaply from things like icy prisms). and indeed most proffesions get auto-upgraded. and then theres blacksmithing. blacksmiths dont need upgrading, because they can use the epic gems in their 2 extra gemslots! yes, they can pay probably about 2000g to get the bonus, while everyone else gets it for free. blacksmithing is extremely effective at the moment (with many blacksmiths making eternal belt buckles on a monthly basis, and made their last useful plate item a mere 6 months ago) so they certainly dont need any changes.

- prot pallys made immune to dying-of-stupidity, from things like void zones, mimirons rockets, and falling from 5000ft up.

Shouldn't that be "what every warrior has been asking for for years!" ?

Years ago someone posted a spoof dev chat about pallys crying at warriors getting a slight boost and a few other classes. The devs then nerf everyone and boost pallys with everything the other classes were supposed to get.

Anyone remember it or have a copy/link? Was a funny read.

i dunno, they did the same when they created DKs though...
asked every class what that class needed, and then gave it all to DKs.... :p

You forgot the biggest nerf to ret pallys:

- Retribution now needs keyboards with >3 buttons

OMGF BLizz i lost 2 fingers in a crash now i can't play my favorit clazz OMG! I am guna sue you for disfanglkedys

My main 2 classes, rogue and warrior get very little cahnge. The DK nerfs actually do more for the Warrior class than the Warrior buffs, eg stop them being de-facto tanks for Hardmode via the IBF Nerf. THe figures on block will be interesting too, whislt it's only a few percent mitigation, it'll help.

As for rogues: YEAH BABY AXES YEAH!

Incidentally, are there no silver dragon critters any more? The ones with the silver dragon rounf their portrait?

Ther are a few. 1 per zone I think. They are on much longer spawn times though and drop specific tailored loot.

how often, really, do you wear gear with lots of block value on it for tanking anything hard?
i mean yes, i have a block set. i wear it for farming heroic 5mans (which i'll do a lot of i guess, now i can get free conquest tokens from that...). but i dont wear it for anything hard :p of course, given that my t8.25 set has block value on it (and is therefore pretty crap really :p) i'll have a decent block value when i'm wearing that solely for its 4piece bonus, i guess...
