I didn't think you were being biased but I do think you under-estimate the controls.
Imagine a current game, playing indian jones, running along, press I dunno 'Alt' to fire the whip, catch the lamp swing over the gap, turn around, press Alt to unhook the whip, turn back see the shadow of someone coming around the corner, pull out your gun, aim at head height and then fire as they step around the corner (haha you just shot St00d).
Now imagine those controls from a PC with mouse and keyboard to a current gen/ps3/360 controller, it's all X and O and shoulder buttons and stuff. The Wii could have you running along (direction on the nunchuk) aim with the wii-mote, flick the wrist whip the lamp, press Z on nunchuk (it's single shoulder button) jump, swing, flick the wii-mote at the end of the arc, land, see the shadow, A on the wii-mote to get the gun out, point - aim, steps out, BANG
And hey presto you have a 2 handed sensible control system (much like I feel the PC is far superior to console controls) which includes some fun motions and the skill. That's what floats my boat about the Wii.
And if you don't like Zelda there are no killer apps on the Wii right now (you did look at the meta-critic review yeah ? I mean 96% is pretty killer to me) well maybe Excite Trucks but that's not hitting the UK till Feb, Red Steel I'll still be getting despite reviews and clunky sword fighting, I'll be pre-ordering Metroid Prime (killer FPS app I'm hoping), and having x-mas fun with people with monkey ball and maybe rayman. If I was getting a PS3 I'd wait till Motor Storm was out, 360 I'd get for Assasins Creed if it didn't hit the PC (which i'm pretty convinced it will).
Edit: How much fun can you have with a game you struggle to control ? (it's why I like PC games more than consoles, with the exception of Steel Batallions (what a controller that has) and GT2 (which I control like a remote control car and I think is better than mouse/keyboard))
