Fallout 3 PS3 or 360

I'm trying to decide whether I should get Fallout 3 (totally single player) for either my PS3 or 360.

360 is upstairs running off my 20" wide screen computer display
PS3 is downstairs with nice comfy sofa.

I played Elder Scrolls and don't remember having to read the screen that much which would be more difficult on the PS3, didn't really play Oblivion and wondering if people with more Bethesda experience could offer advice of if I really need to be up close and personal to the screen so I can read everything or can sit back and just enjoy things, I guess moving close if I need to

I already know the 360 is the version Bethesda prefer as such, but that means diddly squat as I've never paid for an expansion to a game as yet and I do quite like the idea of chilling on the sofa while roaming around the blasted wastelands

360. If it's a good game then it will be text heavy, and that will be a major part of the game. If it's bad, you won't want to play it anyway. The Fallout series is traditionally heavy on the dialogue, and Fallout 3 looks like it might be relatively true to its roots despite what the naysayers on NMA say.

Hmm, all the video's I'd seen up till now of it seem to suggest all the dialogue was actually spoken in game rather than pages and pages of text to read through :/

And what's NMA ?

Hmmm, that's a good point - it is likely to be spoken. I'll be turning that off if I can though as I loathe listening to voice rather than reading text. Will be useful for you though. NMA is "No Mutants Allowed", a hardcore Fallout fansite.

Ahh will have to have a look at that.

And on the DS I do read the text (not any choice), but I'm looking forward to playing a game from the sofa (where I don't need to wear glasses) :)

And as Fallout 3 and LBP are out on the same day I can't imagine I'll be playing Fallout 3 straight away ... might just wait and see what others think when it's out, then by the right one for me then.

Because my PC won't play it anywhere near as well as the 360 or PS3, I'm still not sure which one to get, but LBP will be first to keep me busy :) If by the time I get bored of that and Mirrors Edge does badly when I rent it. If the PS3 version has trophies live on it by the time I make the decision I'd get the PS3, otherwise the additional of shineys as I play means it would probably be the 360

I didn't think Fallout 3 was getting the User content stuff like they provided to the community with Oblivion ?

What? but I needed the user content to make the game the way it should have been with high resolution textures and better UI. I just hope this time they dont dumb down the PC version just so it'll run on the consoles.

360 was the main development platform I thought I'd read, then they ported it to PC and PS3 (though lazily to the PS3 as it would have any future downloable content)

I'm not convinced by Fallout 3 at all, I thought the elder scrolls games were just boring with a dire combat system. Aren't they using the same game engine from Oblivion for Fallout3.

Treebeard

Ranger of the North
One of the few current gen games I'm looking forward too.

I'm still playing Oblivion so if its anything like that then I'm happy. The combat may make it even better because as Soupy said, the combat in Oblivion is arse.

Not fussed about version. Wait to see what the reviews say.

I take it that the content will have to be paid for.

but as a 360 owner no question which version I'll get as fed up seeing if the PC version will run.

PC= MMO/internet stuff
360 = games/solo stuff

PS3 = expensive but not supported fully

DS = decent console stuff
Wii = group gaming

PS2 = huge back catalogue of gaming \o/

It's not really part of PC culture to charge small amounts for little extras, as with consoles.
Unless there's an expansion pack, I can't see me getting out my card for little bits. Plus there'll hopefully be a mod community for the PC.

exactly. even if its not 'officially' supported on pc, there will likely be a mod community out there making patching and addons for it.

Incidently, having a mooch around Gamestation yesterday, i noticed a that a new 60gig 360 (the pro), Fifa 09 and a 2nd controller for 179, which is pretty much the xbox for 110

not bad.
