Is WotLK Too Easy.

As for PQ's I'd agree that if you compared a WoW instance with a WAR PQ, you'd end up with better items from a WoW instance, but I also think a WoW instance would take you alot longer to complete. I joined a PQ yesterday and it took around 15 to 20 minutes at the most to complete it and I got a pretty shiney breastplate for it (if you wanna see it click my Gottaa profile and look at Gonnaa)

Yeah but instances in WOW are easy to get into, actually reward teamplay and working together and teach you how to play your class - whereas it seemed nearly impossible to get into a PQ's in Warhammer (sure they may only take 10 minutes but that after waiting for ages!) and i'm talking the first week of release when low level area's should be busy! PQ unless you somehow endup with roughly the right amount of players and classes either end up being to hard because their is only 3 of you and one of those has wandered off, or there are 12 of you around and it becomes a 'tag' the mobs 'hit' the crate race - which is hardly fun or promotes teamplay!

I know for a fact defeating Van Cleef in the deadmines for the first time is a hell of alot more satisfying than doing my first PQ :p

And so it should be Janie, van cleef = dungeon, first PQ = still a PQ that takes about 15 minutes to complete. Which was exactly what I said before, you get more from an instance, but it takes more effort and time and investment, it's hard to judge a PQ though if you're experience was that they were always empty.

As for the rep thing Zeus, you did know you actually get a bonus in some secret way I've never quite worked out going to different PQ's in the area, so for example doing PQ5 (or maybe it was 6), I visited each one and did the first part and had filled up 2 bubs and a half, then bumped into some people on the first one and completed it and was on full. As I said before, if you choose to sit in one place and just kill the same mob over and over, then yes it will feel like a grind, the game promotes you moving around, if you choose not to, what can else can the game do ?

And I disagree totally about scoreboards, in the same way I think DKP sucks the living soul out of people, and DPS meters make a game less about having fun, and more about "points". Play the game, have fun, get shineys, what else do you want from a game ? Sure it would be good to get "points" for annoying the hell out of healers, but how exactly would "points" work that all out properly ... they can't and they shouldn't have too, if you want to just look at the scoreboard and win on that, I could play that way and get more points, more kills, less deaths and have a pretty boring time of it. It's personal choice, if you want to play the "points" game because that's what you consider fun, then do it and be happy, I don't think they could for much and I have alot of fun.

As I said it's all personal choice though, I do think WAR has improved with the number of players around now, and it was a really bad call having too many servers (perhaps bad timing with WoW's addon) but they have resolved the problem now.

AS for the book thing, yes WoW released achievements, and yes WAR has it's book (never seen a bug in it, not sure where you came across all these bugs you seem to have had, never had one). And it's true that you can't measuer fun in a numerical way, but you can say "I enjoy that, and I didn't enjoy that as much" which is all you should need isn't it ?

regardless of how much you move around the place, if all you can do is kill the mobs in the first phase of each PQ, its a grind to get the needed rep. its fine if you can get a group for it, and you get a bunch of bonus rep for completing each phase, but if not its a grind.

by bugs in the book thingy... well for a start, the fact that the 'killed by class' and 'killed class' achievements appear in about a half dozen different sections depending on the class. (like killed by sorceror appears in the 'quests' achievement section, and killed by witch elf appears in 'silly' section - not entirely accurate as it was 2 months ago i saw this happen and dont remember too clearly, but it was something like that)

scoreboards exist in games for a reason though, and especially when the rewards are based on those points they should be at least somewhat accurate. rewards should reflect whats done (which is one of my gripes with the pq loot system too. firstly that healers have a hard time getting anywhere near the contribution points of a dps/tank. but secondly that the randomiser (at least in low levels, maybe its different later on) has much more of an impact on where you're placed than your actual contribution points. several times i'd talk someone into doing a PQ with me (normally my brother or a freind from wow), me and him would get 4-600 points each, and then someone that wandered in at the last minute and made no meaningful contribution and got 50 points would roll much higher than us, and get the best reward bag. ...that was a long digression, sorry :p). I'd be pretty annoyed in a game of team fortress if the scoreboard was based on 'time sat afk' rather than 'kills' - but thats a similar sort of thing to giving points for being in the zerg, rather than points for doing stuff that wins the scenario. wow has the same issue btw, and its why i dont really pvp in wow. fair enough if the objective is meant to be just madly killing each other, but if thats the case then the overall victory/defeat conditions shouldnt be based on flags/control-points/etc.
Its not that i want to play the points game, but why should others be rewarded more for my effort than I am? i have in the past been called all sorts of things in WAR scenarios because i dared to go after the enemy flag (and defend our own) rather than just madly charge into the zerg in the centre. - granted i generally just ignore them, but its hardly encouraging.

Ahh those in the books, I put that down to which class I was playing, as it seemed to be in different sections on my SH and my BO, so I assume while being killed by a tank by a tank as my squig herder meant I was silly, as a BO it was a quest, something like that.

And a very fair point about leaderboards and scoreboards, as I see it though others are rewarded because they want to play the leaderboard game, and I'm rewarded still with points and XP, but also with fun (not that I think people chasing don't have points, it's just there kind of fun/grading). I guess it's not encouraging, if I had an option I'd turn them off infact ... okay you're point beats mine, the current scoreboard stuff is abit stupid, but it's never bothered me as I don't pay attention to it, aprt from spending the time it takes me to zone out to look at how many killing blows I got as I do like that bit, or how my healing went (black orc self heal proc), but as soon as I zone back into the real world I close it, join the queues again and go about my business (generally I get a scenario invite in my off peak times about every 30 mins now).

And what you say about the grind I still don't really agree with, at least up to my level 17 SH I play with Talili (so I guess there is always a group and we are at an advantage already), or my level 12 Black Orc

Your opinion is worthless....
Wow = McDonald's.
War = Some other food place that sells food that is sloppy put together, barely cooked and full of bugs.

Or something like that, i think, maybe.

not that you did really.

Ok fair enough 'playing' was the wrong word that would suggest some sort of fun was being had. I toiled with it for a while before giving up in a mixture of frustration and boredom is fairer.
