4 5 1 my arse the midfield didnt realy have a clue of wot positons they were playing with the players that started the game,let alone when the subs came on they were like headless chickens.

The point of trying new formations is to give more options,starting the game as 4 5 1 dosnet rule out the option of switching back to 4 4 2.

Sven is starting to look like Keegan is the team and tactics he out at the start dosent work,he's no idea how to change it

Look, Sven has been clueless since Portugal Euro 2004. He decides that his best players should fit into a formation. Bollocks. He should have a formation and then pick the players suited to that role.

His substitutions were fucking clueless. He was sitting on the bench like a muppet, biting his nails. His passion and motivating factors are nil. He's a grade 'A' prick. He should resign.

I blame the players for a lot of it. Really its not rocket science. A supposed World Class player earning 10's of thousands a week should be able to adapt to a change of formation. They must have been working on it for the last couple of weeks. Its not even as though the top Premiership teams are now playing 4-4-2 apart from Arsenal. Chelsea play 4-3-3 and ManU have been playing 4-5-1 almost this season. Sven may have tried this change to accomodate this.

Blaming it all on Sven is Sun journalism. I'm not saying its easy, but it looked as though players like Rooney, Lampard, Gerrard, all these so called World Class prima-donna's went out and and showed off like kids because they weren't playing where they wanted to play.

No heart, no passion no matter what the formation. Shouldn't be wearing the jersey.

As you could see from the clips at the end, Steve McLaren looked more the manager during the game than Sven, Sven looked like some kind of pen pusher stood behind the actual England manager.

Cole was AWOL and out of position for the goal, he's a left back, you had both centre backs AND Beckham in the centre during that attack. Cole should have been out in his position, there was no need for him to collapse in.

As Hansen said too, in the past we've said we haven't got enough world class players to do the job. Now we have, only the guy in charge doesn't seem to know what to do with them.

I mean FFS most of those England players are absolute stars for their respective clubs. Yet tonight they looked far from it...

When have any of these players performed well for England no matter the formation apart from Rooney in flashes, Owen and Beckham? I struggle to remember where I've thought to myself at the end of the game that Lampard, Gerrard, Ferdinand, Cole or whoever played a blinder. Its just passing the buck. These players you hope have footballing brains and should be able to cope with and do their best at what the manager is asking them to do. If you are saying that we lost tonight because they couldn't cope with playing in a formation, a formation that some of them are playing something similar to at club lvl, then thats bollocks.

I agree that Sven is awful at motivation, thats why MacLaren is there, but the players have to take some responsibility. They didn't want it tonight apart from the odd one or two and its the story of England's life.

Regardless of formation, the players were awful, and not just because of the formation.

I was refering to the bandwagon jumping cricket players have more heart than football players, which of course will be all over the sun like old people round the oval. Laughing at the England football team just to get a Cricket > Football point is pretty low, you'd be celebrating like it's 1966 if England won the world cup. Me on the underhand couldn't care less if England Cricket won the ashes, hate the sport not going to jump on the bandwagon just because England have finally product a decent side, if I did that i might as well support Chelsea

Of course Sven should do the desent thing now and resign, like all England managers seem to do in the end he's lost the plot - probably down to the pressure the media puts them under. Problem is the FA will probably apoint Mclaren, who I don't think will be anygood either. The only 2 current English managers i'd be happy with are the current Charlton and Bolton managers, well i'd also include Stuart Pearce who is doing wonders at Man City but he's probably not had enough experience yet. Good result for Scotland, and while being Beaten by N. Ireland isn't stunning form it shows teams ranked 100+ in the world can beat teams ranked in the top 10, unlike say the teamed ranked 2 beating the team ranked 1 at home considered a shock
