Shock result at Anfield.

He has had the odd bad game (who doesn't) and some injuries but generally has been one of our most dynamic players along with Hleb. He is also learning the position. Probably the same sort of fans who think that Gilberto has never had a good game for us.

I could never understand why some of our fans hate Gilberto when he's been outstanding for us on numerous occasions. Mind you, plenty of people never through Flimflam was any good.

Gilberto's game is currently in the toilet though and Wenger needs to sort it out or flush him. He might not have had much say in the matter but letting Diarra go and playing Gilberto as the third choice mildfielder is an absolute crime on current form.

As for Ebou, he has an attitude problem. If that can be sorted out, then he'd be a fine player but he basically needs to work hard for the whole match and stop being a twat.

Interesting comments from the Hlebster:

Until last summer, we had just played for Thierry Henry. He was running the show. Whenever I got the ball, I was looking up, wheres Henry?

I did not dare to go for goal myself! And if once in a while I dared to pass the ball to someone else, he would shout, hey, I was free! When he was on form, we won everything. When he was off form, we lost.

That has all changed. We are not a one-man-band any more. Nobody complains when I risk some dribbling. Thats the reason for our good performances we were set free.

That looks a bad un, I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't play again

Was the tackle vindictive or just one of those bad ones that happens from mistiming.

Edit: I see Wenger is calling for a life ban.

Having just found this the tackle is just plain bad.

Is there a bigger wanker in football punditry than Garth Crooks. A disgrace of a man who shouldn't be allowed anywhere near normal folk. He even had the front to, for some reason, bring up the Terry incident (which was quite clearly an accident by Diaby) from ages ago calling that a disgraceful tackle and this one unintentional.

An absolute cretin.

I think he was talking about Eboue actually but even so, why would you even bring it up in this siuation.

Agree totally about Garth 'why use 5 words when 20 will do' Crooks. The man is an imbecile.

Its been quite saddening to see some of the press reaction. Clumsy but honest and other such descriptions seems to be doing the rounds. Only seen one so far but a report from tomorrows paper barely mentions the tackle and focuses on the fact we dropped two points. I'm sure Taylor didn't go out there to do that much damage (although the look he gives Edu as he gets up seems odd) but it was a bad bad tackle.

I wonder the furor on Sky, the BBC and in the press if Eboue had done it to Rooney for example. Public execution would probably be the order of the day. Things like this really make you wonder how xenophobic or just plain racist the heart of the English game is.

I find it hardly suprising anymore that many Arsenal fans couldn't give two fucks for the English national team with what you see week in and week out in the Premiership.

Same thing happened to a Leicester player the tail end of last season, but because we weren't one of the top few teams in the country it gets mostly ignored.

I think the best thing that can happen now is everyone hopes Eduardo gets back to playing football again and not let this be dragged though the press like the Hunt vs Cech thing last season.

I'm glad to see Wenger has retracted his statement from straight after the game, that's a good start.

I was initially glad he did but then doesn't that kind of leave you on the side of believing it was just a clumsy challenge? Which I don't.

I was thinking what a twat Gallas was last night but when you see the position of the ref and the way the ball moves, its obvious Clichy got a bit of it. Its good in a way to see that passion but he should have handled it better and certainly shouldn't have walked to the other end of the pitch. Maybe he would have twated the ref overwise.

I see Newcastle rolled over to ManU again. Absolutely awful.

Not even a yellow according to Steve Bruce. Seems everyone is more concerned about Taylor than Eduardo. Unbelievable.

I don't think there was any intent in the challenge mate, just badly timed with a horrible result.

Get well soon Eddy.

I don't think he has tried to deliberately maim him. He has definately tried to rough him up though. The intent was there to hurt even if it wasn't there to seriously damage. Why else have your studs that far off of the ground?

I'm more sickened by the people in football and the press who seem less than enthusiastic about condeming one of their own and at the least say it was a very bad challenge.

Why don't footballers keep their mouths shut

Your manager states that as a team you are going to let the dust settle so what does Kelly do, opens his halfwitted inbred mouth and say the red card was harsh. Fookin' muppet.

From what I remember the red card was out before the ref has turned white and called for a stretcher.

Aye, from what I remember the ref saw the challenge, pulled out the red card and then saw what the damage actually was.

I just love the people coming out and saying how wonderful Taylor is and how it was barely worth a yellow. So far I've avoided watching the tackle from the other angles Sky didn't show and have only glimpsed a picture of the result in the paper, hopefully I can keep it that way. I have however seen a picture at the point of impact right before Eduardo's leg gave way.

I'll give Taylor the benefit of the doubt that he didn't mean to cripple Eduardo and was beaten by pace and skill. But, at the point of impact, the ball is long gone and Taylor hit Eduardo in the middle of his shin will all his studs showing. That to me is a red card. I'm not interested that it was simply a mistimed challenge or that Taylor's foot would have come down on the ball had Eduardo been a bit slower, shin high with all studs showing and no sign of the ball is a straight red.

It was a horrific accident and these things happen apparently but how about we rally around the guy with the double compound fracture instead of falling over ourselves to stick up for the guy who might have ended his career? Fair enough, he feels like shit and we don't need to persecute him for it but who cares? He'll still be on the pitch next week.

Spot on.

Sports 'journalism' in this country is shockingly poor. It makes the Sun look intellectual.

The mentality of some supporters and even players is really shocking sometimes. Everybody no matter what club you support should be hoping Eduardo will recover from this.
