Anyone here interested in STO ?

Had the lifetime subs for the price of what appears to be 14 months subs email from Cryptic today ... is there anyway to check out the game to see if its worth doing? Cos I quite fancies a StarTrek MMO, and if its playable for more than a year the lifetime thingy is rather worth it ... wish they'd done it with WoW .. 5 years and counting ?

Im underwhelmed when all said and done. i think if i move from eve itll be back to CoX

I'm quite enjoying it, but i don't think it'll have much staying power as it's quite repetitive. Going to keep playing for now and see how things change as you get into the mid range content.

tbh I dont often get chance to group with people these days ... only being able to pop in for an hour if lucky at a time, so plodding through at my own pace while enjoying the eye candy is how I like to play ... downloading client atm to have a go at beta though as would not pay up for the lifetime thing without trying ...

If it is anything like Champions, that will be a shame :(
I was kinda hoping for a casual MMO that would grab me like WoW did.

Why is it that no one has hit that magic formula yet then?

The space combat is very reminiscent of Starfleet command, i'm wondering if it will let you ever capture ships etc. Currently Lt 6, think i need 8 to be able to roll a klingon and start doing pvp.

In Fact i'm about to go and hunt down some of those games, were great fun on our lan nights many years ago.

Need to be lvl6 to unlock Klingon, or you can unlock them earlier by doing a mission called "stop the signal". Which is what I did.

The Fact that they want you to stump up for a lifetime sub based purely on open and closed beta's, is quite strange isn't it? offer expires day before the game goes live.

I'll probably play it for a couple of months, depends on what it's like after the early stuff, and what the bigger ships are like, like i said i really enjoy the space combat sections, very reminiscent of my time in SFC, can't wait for a ship that has more than 2 weapons, if they exist...
